**Power Plant Electrician**
**The starting pay for this position is $51.89/hr. followed by an increase to $54.49/hr. upon successfully completing probation (six months).**
We are looking to hire a Power Plant Electrician where you will be able to bring your demonstrated skills and abilities to assist in daily operations!
**How you’ll make a difference each day:**
+ Installing, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining all electrical equipment associated with a Power Plant including:
+ 480-volt MCCs
+ 13800/6900/4160 switchgear
+ Electromechanical and Solid-state Protective relays
+ Electric motors
+ Circuit breakers
+ Control circuits
+ Motor-operated valve and actuators
+ Batteries and UPS
+ Installing and programming Programmable Logic Controls (Controllogix, SLC, Modicon) Variable frequency drives, and Operator interface
+ Using test equipment such as volt-ohm meter, amp meter, relay test equipment, oscilloscopes, breaker test equipment, and medium voltage test equipment
+ Read blueprints, drawings, and schematics
+ Use computer hardware and software applications to utilize for your role
+ Understand basic network equipment and design
+ Providing technical guidance, training, assistance, and work review of apprentices
+ Having knowledge and use of Work Management processes including planning, scheduling, processing of work orders, and supply chain management.
+ Complying with the safety and health program in support of an incident and injury-free workplace
Ideally, you will bring demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position acquired through the completion of a certified Department of Labor Electrical Apprentice program. This position requires journey-level electrical experience. Electrical experience in an electric-generating power plant or industrial maintenance is preferred.
**Additional requirements and considerations:**
+ A Valid unrestricted Driver's License is required for this position
+ Physical requirements of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions
+ Exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects
+ Subjection to extreme temperatures, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, inadequate lighting, and intense noises
+ Many of our plants will subject you to heights with proper protection
+ A respirator fit and hearing test are required annually, by the Colorado Springs Utilities Medical facility
+ The typical schedule is Monday- Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. During outages, schedules can become 6-7 days a week and 10 hours days
+ This position is subject to emergency call-outs, overtime as required, shift change, and scheduled standby availability
+ Good interpersonal and communication skills as applied to interactions with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public

The “home base” for this role will be the Nixon Power Plant at 6598 Ray Nixon Road, Fountain, CO 80817 off of I-25, exit 125, but you will be required to travel to all other power plants throughout the city as business needs arise. Our energy portfolio consists of a 2 on 1 combined cycle, 1 coal-fired steam turbine, 3 natural gas steam turbines, 2 combustion turbines, 6 aero-derivatives, 6 hydro-generators, and 1 air injection plant.
