About the role:
We’re looking for a Power Plant Group Leader at Alcoa Warrick and this new addition to our team will be responsible to advise the activities of Team Leaders, Control Operators, Plant Operators, and Maintenance Personnel to produce electricity, potable water, smelting steam, and high temperature water for use in the smelting plant. The supervisor will coordinate activities with internal suppliers and external customers, while ensuring that members have the vital equipment, parts, and tools to perform their jobs. This professional will also supervise activities with related areas, such as maintenance, coal handling, other production groups, and customers.
Major activities:
Lead and ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements for Production Personnel and Team Leaders.
Train Production Personnel to identify and accurate unsafe conditions to avoid occurrence of accidents.
Develop and execute concrete programs for implementing safety within the department including regular safety and housekeeping audits.
Improve the efficiency of all jobs through downtime identification and elimination.
Resolve operational and human relations problems and strive to keep team morale high and attitudes positive.
Lead Team Leaders and Plant Operators based on company philosophy, objectives, and goals.
Communicate expectations and feedback effectively, including reviews of work team performance and company goals.
Maintain an awareness of overall plant performance with regard to plant goals and foster the understanding of how the work of team members impacts the achievement of those goals.
Comprehend and implement the Alcoa Production System.
Coordinate plant activities during emergency situations including communications with Wholesale Power Marketing, Transmission System Operations, MISO, Rectifier Station, RPD, and Plant Security.
What you can bring to the role:

High School Diploma or GED
Good Communication skills, both written and oral.
5 years supervisory experience in an industrial environment or 10 years’ experience in industry with proven leadership capability.
Must have experience in a coal-fired power plant.
Strong leadership abilities are essential
Understand company policies and adapt them to the work environment.
Foster excellent teamwork in the group.
Mathematic, Reading, and Computer Skills to include Microsoft Office programs and Oracle knowledge is a plus.
