Power Station Technician

OVERVIEW:

Observes the operating conditions of C&H Power station, including the turbine generators and their auxiliary equipment, the salt water pumping station, the steam pressure reducing stations, condensate systems, electrical power distribution system and the compressed air systems.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Makes routine rounds of the facility to thoroughly inspect all machinery for potential malfunctions and/or failures. Maintains all logs and records as required to record complete operating conditions for the power station and reports any irregularities to the proper supervision. Will start-up and secure equipment under normal and emergency situations, from the DCS or the field. Will perform the necessary water chemistry tests as directed, to control the quality of condensate returned to the cogeneration plant. Will perform routine maintenance on facility equipment as directed, including cleaning of turbine generating condenser and changing of exciter brushes. Will make adjustments to equipment as required for maintaining safe and efficient operation of the Power Station. Will be required to work with limited supervision and will maintain the station in a neat orderly fashion. Performs other related work as assigned. Within certain assignments, will be required to direct the activities of other operators. Will maintain close contact and a spirit of cooperation with the staff at the Crockett Cogeneration Plant.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Will be required to work the Universal Schedule. Must be able to work overtime, rotating shifts and weekends on a regular basis. Have a high regard and ownership for personal safety and the safety of others. Ability to perform tasks wearing required PPE such as protective clothing, safety glasses/goggles, steel-toed boots, etc. Ability to work as part of a team in a unionized environment.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

5 years’ experience operating powerhouse equipment including steam turbines, power generation equipment and auxiliary equipment.

 

PAY RATE:

Hourly Rate: $43.53
