Become a Power System Application Engineer 3 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will work with a team to develop and implement critical Real-Time Power System Applications, and work with vendors to resolve application issues. You will maintain existing Remedial Action Schemes (RAS) and develop new expansion projects using C, C++, and C#.   

 

Additionally, you’ll:

 

Assist in developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining Real-Time Remedial Action Scheme (RAS) applications on Energy Management System (EMS) and Unified Analytic Platform (UAP) on Centralize Remedial Action Scheme (CRAS).   Perform tier 3 support on sophisticated technical issues associated with Real-Time RAS applications.

Responsibilities Ensures technical issues and problems are resolved in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner utilizing available resources Supervises, leads, and coordinates work with full time and contract employees in the execution of new technical strategies, equipment or standards. Conducts life cycle assessments for utility infrastructure materials and processes; improves preventive maintenance procedures to decrease overall downtime Conducts risk assessments and implements risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of engineering projects Supports audits and inspections; ensures compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations Provides engineering and technical expertise and guidance for the identification, analysis and resolution of high impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems in engineering Ensures the engineering facility design basis is controlled and design basis documentation is maintained Conducts engineering and related studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating high-impact complex projects Provides support and technical training to junior engineering levels A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific/technical/math field. Five or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

Three or more years of experience in developing and maintaining complex programs using C, C++, or C#.  Experience troubleshooting and resolving system technical issues.  Experience and technical knowledge of SCADA and control systems.  Solid understanding of infrastructure and networking capabilities to design highly resilient systems.  Experience with Linux shell scripting.  Experience with network traffic analysis.  Experience with GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented Substation Event) protocol 

 

Additional Information

This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
