Position Title: Power Systems Consultant

Salary: $106,575 - $110,600 per year

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week

Summary of Duties: Develop models for power systems elements (such as conventional and renewable generating plants, voltage support devices, etc.), perform model validation, large-scale simulations of electrical transmission systems for clients such as power producers, independent system operators, and transmission providers to develop solutions for safe and reliable power system operations. Relay protection and/or Electric Distribution planning work may also be assigned. Applying the power systems planning principles, simulation and analysis of power system steady state, dynamic, and transient behaviors, development of mathematical models for reliability assessment of electrical networks, and delivery of on-site technical consulting/training services. Remote work permitted. Less than 10% domestic travel.

Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, or a related field and One (1) year experience in the job offered or as a Power Systems Engineer in an acceptable alternate occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent and six (6) months experience. The position requires experience with the following: Demonstration of a good grasp of knowledge and principles in the field of Power Systems. Knowledge of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow, transient stability, and electromagnetic transients. Knowledge of PSS®E, PSLF, PowerWorld, PSCAD, TARA, or Python used with power systems analysis. Remote employment permitted.
