Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will perform disassembly and examination of gas turbine and diesel engines, reductions gearboxes, hydro-starters, and associated support systems to identify any excessive wear, deterioration, or defects. You will perform engine stops and secure gas turbine or diesel engines using established procedures. You will diagnose problems with engines, electrical components, or hydraulic or pneumatic systems to identify and select repair methods. You will identify damage or worn components (e.g., generators, voltage regulators, governors, starter motors, fuel pumps, fuel lines, oil pumps) to determine required repair or replacement. You will conduct periodic operational efficiency tests of gas turbine or diesel engines. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience indicating that you possess the knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Applying knowledge of the operation of gas turbine/ diesel engine driven generator sets to preform routine preventative maintenance; 2) Interpreting and applying requirements contained in manufacturer's brochures, manuals, electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, schematics, government instructions, and other documents; and 3) Independently diagnosing and detecting system malfunctions by observing instrument readings, equipment appearance, and changes in the operational characteristics. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
