Powertrain Electronic Technician

The candidate will be responsible for the electrical installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment and machinery. This includes, but is not limited to, the duties listed below.


Main Activities and Responsibilities for These Roles:

Core Responsibilities:
•    Install electrical systems for newly installed machinery and equipment including robotics, assembly stations, conveyance systems, and machining centers
•    Perform regularly scheduled preventative, and proactive, maintenance on, but not limited to, robotics, assembly stations, conveyance systems, machining centers
•    Diagnose and repair CNC/NC machining center equipment
•    Work with other members within the maintenance team and production department to troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment
•    Manipulate automated equipment via HMI, remote control, teach pendant and other control devices for the purpose of troubleshooting purposes and repair/service verification
•    Assist in the planning and installation of building equipment and components
•    Actively participate in root cause analysis interactions with other maintenance personnel, engineers, operators, and production leadership
•    The commitment by Volvo to adequately train skilled trades employees is a requirement in order to meet these current and future business challenges. Skilled Trades employees are required to develop themselves, with the assistance of Volvo and/or other training resources. Listed below are the requirements regarding training and development. 
o    Self Assessments
o    Training on and off- site, which may include international travel
o    Periodic mandatory travel for trainings both domestically and internationally
•    Must provide training and mentorship to others when necessary


Technical Requirements:
•    Capable of working with voltages up to 600 VAC including 480 VAC and 277 VAC
•    Have an understanding of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Mechanics.
•    Use electrical test meters and equipment to diagnose breakdowns.
•    Problem solve and evaluate breakdowns for repair.
•    Research part numbers for repairs, ordering spare parts and inventory.
•    Document repairs. Generate and/or edit prints and programs as needed.
•    Plan electrical jobs, calculate and order supplies and materials.
•    Must be able to use ladders and lift platforms.
•    Must practice OSHA lock-out tag-out procedure and auditing, work in a safe, neat manner and maintain a safe and clean work area.
•    Willing to learn, grow, be flexible, action oriented and work with a sense of urgency.
•    Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety and environmental compliance.
•    Be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of our customers and plant operations.
•    Work as part of a team in the production of our powertrain products.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Required:
•    Technical School/Apprenticeship Graduate.
•    High School Diploma/equivalent or higher education.

 

Physical Requirements
•    Employee must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
•    Standing, Walking, Lifting <50lbs, Kneeling, Bending
•    Work w/ Coolant, Oil, and other Solvents
•    Capable of obtaining PIT License (golf carts/Aerial Lifts)
•    Work minimum of 8 hour work day

For this position, the hourly rate is set at $41.75, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
