Powertrain Performance Engineer
Position Overview As an engineer within the Performance Engineering Team, you will play a key role in the sales and ordering process of International vehicles. The Powertrain Performance Engineer will be the main point of contact for the sales organization and dealer network on vehicle performance-related topics. Specifically, this position is responsible for answering all sales/dealer inquiries, responding to special quotations and maintaining sales tools. The role is also responsible for all activities related to the acquisition of data collected for performance and fuel economy studies. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a solid technical foundation. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated self-starter that addresses their work with a sense of urgency. This is currently a hybrid position working 3 days in office and 2 days work from home a week at our WHQ in Lisle, IL. (International reserves the right to update the current hybrid working status at any time). Responsibilities Give technical direction to sales and dealership personnel related to vehicle performance and advise on optimal powertrain specifications Maintain performance sales tools by updating component data, creating structure for new model introductions or adding new features Provide timely response to Special Quotation (SQ) requests for unique or nonconforming powertrain configurations by ensuring minimum performance requirements are met Manage shipment of data loggers to customer sites and coordinate with customers regarding installation, logging and return of devices Analyze data obtained from customer vehicles as needed to quantify operational performance and/or energy economy Create formal report on customer studies to communicate standard metrics and key findings Conduct in-depth investigations on customer issues or electrification opportunities as required Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience OR PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired Skills Strong engineering background, preferably in vehicle or powertrain systems Familiarity with conventional and electric powertrain components, systems and features Excellent problem solving skills and strong analytical ability Experience with vehicle simulation software tools such as Simulink, GT Suite or similar Ability to analyze data using tools such as Matlab, Python, Mathematica, Excel, Power BI or similar Proficient communication, both written and verbal Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks Benefits and Compensation We provide a competitive total rewards package which ensures job satisfaction both on and off the job.
