Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $80,000.00 - $121,000.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to protect, strengthen, and amplify the Commerce Bank brand at the corporate level. Reputation management, crisis management, storytelling and communications are primary functions.

Essential Functions

For an assigned scope, (e.g. Line of Business, Products, Channel, Content, Geography, etc.):

Act with higher level of independence with minimal oversight from direct manager and have a wider span of accountability and influence

Manage crisis communications, issues management and societal issues

May manage a cross-functional, cross-department, cross-product project team with minimal oversight from direct manager

Serve as subject matter expert and provide guidance and mentoring to team members

Lead PR, Brand and local marketing projects

Lead the identification, prioritization, and resolution of customer experience issues

Coordinate department/segment /corporate/strategy projects as needed

Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Advanced knowledge of public relations best practices and bank marketing regulations

Strong reputational management and informal leadership skills

Strong ability in identifying and resolving customer issues

Ability to respect, protect and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information

Ability to display sound judgment and creative problem-solving skills

Strong fiscal responsibility and understanding of how to present a business case

Customer service skills and the ability to develop and manage an Agile Marketing work environment

Ability to show critical thinking and listening skills and connect quickly with internal clients

Ability to ask questions, offer solutions, retain information and apply details to future situations

Proactive in finding ways to assist team members and streamline processes

Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook  

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Master’s degree preferred.

8+ years marketing or public relations experience required

3+ years experience leading project teams preferred

Financial services experience preferred

Informal leadership experience preferred

At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $80,000 to $121,000 annually.
