Amazon is seeking a highly-intelligent and experienced public relations professional to support our rapidly growing and evolving free AVOD streaming service, Amazon MX Player. The video streaming service is changing the way people consume free and quality entertainment in India. Our mission is to build the widest selection of free video content and make it easy for customers to enjoy wherever and whenever they want for free.
Amazon and MX Player recently joined forces to accelerate premium free entertainment for over 250 million users in India. With this acquisition, Amazon merged two of India’s most popular free AVOD (or ad-supported video on demand) services – MX Player and Amazon miniTV into one service - Amazon MX Player.
Amazon MX Player is Amazon India’s big bet in terms of shaping the future of the free AVOD landscape in India. With a combined library of hit shows ranging from Aashram, Dharavi Bank, Bhaukaal, Raktanchal, Jamnapaar, Hunter, Physicswallah, Yeh Meri Family, Hip Hop India, Playground and more, along with a large collection of popular Korean, Mandarin and Turkish shows dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu called MX Vdesi, and a massive movie library - Amazon MX Player is one of India’s top entertainment destinations.

We are looking for a PR leader who can discerningly steer PR campaigns that tell compelling stories about Amazon MX Player while overseeing corporate communications, crisis scenario mapping and reputation management as well for this large AVOD service. The role presents an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to work in a start-up like environment and is passionate about building clutter breaking publicity campaigns to build strong viewer interest for our new shows in the pipeline, as well build affinity with advertisers.
This is a senior role in the PR and Communications function based in Mumbai, reporting into the Head of Communications, Amazon MX Player. In the capacity of a Senior PR Manager, you will also partner with other stakeholders including Advertising PR, Prime Video PR teams, and explore areas of synergy.
You are expected to imagine, conceptualize, develop and execute communications programs and publicity campaigns designed to support a large slate of Amazon MX Player Originals, licensed and exclusive content from India and beyond, and build a positive narrative of the service for advertisers, brand partners and media agencies. You will be relied upon as an advisor to internal teams and will drive campaigns taking into consideration cultural nuances for impactful local media strategies.
A successful candidate will the one that has extraordinarily high-judgment, excellent communications skills, exemplary writing ability, strong project management skills and has a talent for effectively managing projects with complex communication challenges and to be executed in stringent timelines.
Key job responsibilities
•Co-develop and implement PR strategies and publicity campaigns for Amazon MX Player Originals, licensed and exclusive content across a spectrum of shows and genres.
•Co-develop and implement concepts for premieres and other press events relating to Amazon MX Player, including interviews with talent, set visits and press junkets for original, exclusive and first run content.
•Build and execute a regular drumbeat that would build positive brand image of the service with advertisers, brand partners and media agencies.
•Work with stakeholders across multiple spheres of the business including content teams, marketing teams, social media teams, ads sales, brand solutions teams and external PR agencies.
•Provide strategic recommendation to business stakeholders while liaising with Ads PR counterparts on areas of cross-functional synergy.
•Ensure consistency of company-wide communication, share worldwide best practices, and support impactful local media strategies here in India.
•Keep current on trends, issues and news about both the business and consumer worlds of media and entertainment
•Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant media in the region
•Conduct proactive and reactive media relations
•Manage external public relations agency on several matters
•PR subject matter expert for Amazon MX Player in India
