As a Practice Management Consultant, you will help financial advisors excel in their role as entrepreneurs. This position serves as a human capital specialist, supporting advisors in recruiting, developing, motivating, and retaining talent. The role is highly visible in the field and makes a meaningful impact through consulting, workshops, resource creation, and thought leadership. Practice Management consultants deliver advanced expertise and drive innovation in their respective areas of specialization.
The Team
Our Practice Management team is expanding MassMutual’s business support and resources to help our affiliated financial advisors successfully grow and strengthen their businesses. Our objectives are to increase advisor growth, productivity, retention, and recruiting. The team supports advisors in all aspects of leading their businesses, including strategic planning, human capital, systemization, client value creation, business structures, financial management, organic growth, practice acquisitions, and succession. This is a recently formed team that is rapidly building new offerings and an extensive service model—making it an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment within a larger, established organization.
The Impact:
Serve as the practice management specialist for human capital, helping financial advisors recruit, develop, motivate, and retain talentProvide advanced expertise across a broad range of human capital topics, including recruiting, onboarding, development, compensation, organizational design, leadership, culture, communication, management, and performance.Deliver presentations and workshops for one-to-many offerings and one-to-one consulting for large practicesBuild a comprehensive business toolkit to help advisors operate more effectivelyDesign and deliver interactive workshops for advisors with an emphasis on actionable outcomesProvide specialist expertise to general agencies to strengthen their practice management offeringsSupport the Business Development team’s practice management coaching programs in a specialist capacityPartner with Society Concierge Consultants to support practice management needs for qualifying advisorsDeliver sessions for MassMutual Academy, Society 1851, agency meetings, and other eventsDevelop expertise of MassMutual’s advisor platform and resources in relation to center of excellence and spearhead enhancementsThe Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree8+ years’ experience in financial services or, alternatively, in an unrelated field serving small business ownersWillingness to travel approximately 10-20% of the timeDue to the nature of the position, as a part of our background check process, candidates must be able to pass a non-registered fingerprinted background check to qualify as a fingerprinted person under FINRAThe Ideal Qualifications
Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master's degree in Human Resources, or similar advanced degreeDeep understanding of the issues facing financial advisors as small business ownersAdvanced expertise working with advisors on issues related to human capitalAbility to independently identify, build, and deliver new business resourcesStrong analytical and creative problem-solving skillsAbility to navigate ambiguous business situationsExperience delivering consulting engagements that span both technical factors and interpersonal dynamicsStrong presentation skills in both live and virtual formatsAbility to clearly communicate nuanced conceptsTeam player who is also comfortable working independentlyPreference to work in a fast-paced, high-demand, dynamic environmentWhat to Expect as Part of MassMutual and the Team
