CHA Dental Services at our Windsor Street Care Center is a teaching site for the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and other local schools. People come here to learn about research and techniques in oral health. Our residents frequently provide dental services and education to children and adults through community events and programs. Our office in Cambridge provides a wide range of services for all ages. You can find everything from routine cleanings to dentures. We also offer evening hours and have a children-only clinic one weekend a month.
Under direction of the Sr. Director of Primary Care, the Practice Manager is accountable for the financial, quality, service delivery and operational functions of the Dental practice. Works in conjunction with the Dental Director to provide high quality patient care in a compassionate, culturally sensitive, efficient, cost effective manner. Supervises all administrative staff and Dental Assistants. Under the guidance of the Sr. Director, responsible for encouraging innovation, and initiating and leading quality improvement projects; accountable for compliance with budget and financial performance goals for the site.
Responsibilities:
Personnel: • Directs and coordinates various personnel functions, including, but not limited to, hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions/discipline, transfers and vacations schedules for staff. • Develop and lead orientation and training for all front line staff to ensure competence. Identify ongoing training needs for staff and ensure timely and effective competency assessment. • Motivates staff, ability to effectively and positively influence and persuade staff to achieve organization/department goals and objectives. Demonstrates a collaborative approach to problem solving, and promotes the understanding of the practice mission and goals. • Observes and monitors observance of CHA policies and procedures and ensures staff knowledge and adherence.
Operations: • Under the supervision of the Sr. Director, develops and maintains effective systems for care delivery • Working with the Sr. Director, reviews site operations and identifies and utilizes current best practice, industry best practice and internal innovation to inspire • Collaborates with Alliance service lines to ensure the effective delivery of support services, including facilities management, telecommunications, HIS, medical and non-medical supply delivery, medical records management. • Provides local facility management leadership. Collaborates effectively with all departments providing services or performing Alliance-related activities at the site to ensure smooth and efficient site operations. Ensures the effective use of material and personnel resources for the delivery of services at the site. • Establish major schedules, task assignments and allocation of staff, space and equipment to ensure conformance with practice commitments. • Responsible for the implementation of new expanded computer software and Wisdom/Epic modules as they come on line. • Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission
Leadership: • Provide administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation and administration of current and long term improvement plans. • Develops and monitors annual and capital expenditure budgets. • Maintain liaison with all levels of administration • Provides leadership and participates in the team effort to efficiently complete all department work within the appropriate time interval, including participating in quality improvement team activity as needed. • Works with Marketing to create communication and marketing tools for the practice.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred, equivalent experience accepted.
Work Experience: Five years management experience in Dental operations with demonstrated experience in managing diverse, multi-lingual, multicultural staff and demonstrated Systems Improvement experience.
Skills: Bilingual Spanish/Portuguese/Haitian Creole preferred. Communication and interpersonal skills with ability to respond effectively. Ability to effectively prioritize competing responsibilities while under pressure.
