Manning Equine Veterinary Services offers state-of-the-art facilities, including a 21-stall barn, in-house laboratory, treatment areas, and various turnout options. Our practice caters to international horse show venues and offers specialized services, making us a central hub for equine care in the region. Located near multiple referral hospitals, we provide comprehensive diagnostic and treatment options, ensuring the best care for our equine clients.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Practice Manager to oversee the smooth and efficient operation of our practice. This pivotal role involves partnering with our veterinarians and practice owners to drive revenue growth, optimize operational efficiency, and foster a culture of high-quality patient care and exceptional client service. As Practice Manager, you will lead a dedicated team while ensuring the financial health and long-term success of the practice.


Key Responsibilities:


Leadership and Planning:

Collaborate with Managing Veterinarians and practice owners to develop and implement growth strategies and practice improvement initiatives. Establish and achieve performance goals for the practice and team members, with a focus on continual improvement. Review, refine, and enhance systems, policies, and processes to drive operational efficiency and support sustainable growth. Act as a change leader, driving process improvements and leading the practice through budgeting, strategic planning, and operational enhancements. Effectively manage the practice schedule, aligning labor costs with budgetary goals to maximize profitability.

Financial Management:

Take full responsibility for the financial health of the practice, including in-depth P&L analysis, financial issue resolution, and performance monitoring. Ensure accurate payroll completion, manage accounts receivable, and maintain control over practice inventory to minimize waste and maximize financial efficiency. Conduct invoice audits, oversee facility costs, and implement strategies to reduce operational expenses while maintaining high standards of care.

People Management:

Partner with Managing Veterinarians to assess and fulfill staffing needs, ensuring optimal staff levels and high team morale. Lead the hiring, training, and performance management processes, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment. Implement and oversee performance-based incentives, employee recognition programs, and continuous professional development opportunities. Manage the practice’s on-site and ambulatory teams, promoting a culture of teamwork and excellence.

Operations Management:

Administer employee benefits and oversee practice insurance plans. Develop, enforce, and update practice policies, ensuring strict compliance with DEA/Controlled Substances, OSHA regulations, and other applicable standards. Manage and maintain equipment, computer systems, and fleet maintenance to ensure the practice operates seamlessly. Maintain current licensure for all veterinarians and manage vendor relationships to ensure smooth operations.

Client Service Management:

Uphold the highest standards of client service, addressing client concerns quickly and professionally to ensure satisfaction. Lead client engagement initiatives through strategic communication, marketing efforts, and community outreach activities. Oversee and enhance the practice’s reputation management efforts, including social media presence, online marketing campaigns, and client outreach.

Qualifications:

A deep passion for horses and equine care. Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field (preferred). 5-7 years of experience in a managerial role, ideally within a veterinary, equine, or healthcare-related practice. Strong financial acumen, with proven experience in P&L management, budgeting, and inventory control. Demonstrated success in managing staff, building high-performance teams, and driving operational efficiency. Comprehensive experience in HR policies, problem-solving, and client service strategies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with veterinary practice management software is a plus.
