The Department of Human Genetics is currently seeking a full time Practice Manager to work in Miami. The Practice Manager leads a team of multidisciplinary staff, including RNs and LPNs to develop, administer, and coordinate skilled nursing care. Additionally, the incumbent ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and the organization’s policies and procedures.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Directs educational and health activities to help staff maintain certifications.
Interviews, hires, trains, coaches, and evaluates all interdisciplinary staff.
Monitors client and family care as specified by the plan of care, assessing appropriateness, continuity, service, and quality of care
Supervises patient and family care as specified by the plan of care, assessing appropriateness, continuity, service, and quality of care.
Communicates potential risk management issues to appropriate managing staff.
Prepares all practice related reports as required by law.
Communicates with physicians and other agencies providing nursing or related services on a consistent basis to ensure continuity of care.
Initiates and applies appropriate preventative, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing procedures and techniques.
Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patients.
Maintains professional knowledge and practice skills through attendance and participation in continuing education.
Adheres to HIPPA laws and maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions
Responsible for working with other practice managers and directors to secure clinic space as department grows or providers availability changes
Responsible for building and maintaining department schedules in UChart
Responsible for tracking and providing visit and other cube data internally and in some instances to external departments
Responsible for making sure that we have the minimum number of providers/support/staff available to cover clinics and office duties.
Responsible for creating on-call calendars and other duty rosters as assigned
Responsible for making sure that the most accurate CPT codes are being used for our services
Clinic
Laboratory
Responsible for stocking clinics with appropriate supplies for Genetics visits and testing
Responsible for arranging BLS courses, Compliance courses for the department and new hires if needed
Responsible for working with SAO for employee landing spaces, computers, and telecom need.
