Practicum Education Coordinator

Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Practicum Education Director, the Practicum Education Coordinator assists to recruit agency field placement sites, works with students to coordinate practicum placement assignments, and assists to complete administrative duties of the practicum education office for the MSW program. The Practicum Education Coordinator also collaborates with the Practicum Education Director and interfaces with MSU's field education office, which includes providing routine reporting and data collection.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with the recruitment of agency field placement sites.

Work with the Practicum Education Director to review student field applications and coordinate student field placement assignments.

Respond to student questions about the field placement.

Troubleshoot with the Practicum Education Director, Practicum instructors and Practicum seminar instructors regarding any issues that emerge at Practicum placement sites.

Educate students, and Practicum instructors about Practicum policies and expectations.

Work with the education director to facilitate orientations for students and field instructors.

Partner with the Practicum Education Director to develop the Seminar in Practicum Education (SIFI) course.

Assist in developing and delivering professional development workshops for students.

Maintain field education documentation.

Assist with field evaluation processes including data collection and data entry.

Manage a variety of administrative duties within the office.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: 

Master’s degree from an accredited university in social work.

Minimum two (2) years post-MSW professional experience in social work.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Strong written and verbal communication.

Detail-oriented.

Ability to multitask and maintain organization.

Excellent time management skills with an ability to set and meet deadlines.

Demonstrate proficiency in operating Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED:

Social Work license.

Experience in social work education.

Creative, innovative, and strategic thinking.
