Our Team

Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) is responsible for understanding, analyzing, measurement and improvement plans for assigned data assets.  The group interfaces with all business, operational and technology area’s to develop and execute data improvement plans using automated solutions with use of manual intervention when necessary.

EDG drives implementation of end-to-end data management and governance capabilities to improve the quality and usability of enterprise data critical to improving the health, well-being, and security of Evernorth's and Cigna’s customers.  EDG team leads enterprise-wide data governance, data standards & policies, data capabilities, reference data management, and groupers data management functions.

Position Summary

The Practitioner Data Steward works in partnership with business stakeholders and technical partners to execute our enterprise-wide data governance strategy for the organization.  Understanding and enhancing current data governance strategy, refreshing data guidance documentation, establishing data standards, executing data governance operating model, and consistently applying data governance best practices for Practitioner data domain will be the key initial expectations.  Ability to work in a complex and large organization, ability to influence both business and Technology partners, ability to articulate data concepts to business communities, and ability to articulate business justifications of data governance will be keys to success.

For this requisition, we are looking for individuals with extensive expertise in defining, implementing and executing a data stewardship function in a large and complex organization.

Job Responsibilities

Working across stakeholders from all business units of Evernorth, define and rollout enterprise data guidance and standards for Express Scripts Pharmacy/Practitioner data domain.Partner with legal, compliance, proposal and audit teams to ensure data stewardship meets privacy, regulatory and internal audit requirementsSupport execution of organization’s data governance operating modelSet data stewardship priorities based on business needs, regulatory demands and data best practicesBe resident expert in data governance best practices, methodologies, processes for Express Scripts Pharmacy/Practitioner data domainClosely work with business and technology partners to implement data governance requirementsContinuously improve and enhance data governance practices for Express Scripts Pharmacy/Practitioner data domainActively reach out and work with Evernorth Product teams to collaborate in efforts to implement consistent data governance practices.   Participate in various regulatory compliance efforts to define and implement data governance requirementsActively manage Evernorth's contractual obligations in using and sharing Practitioner data assets with external partiesDirect line of knowledge sharing with external data vendors to promote improved quality of products and/or servicesParticipate in Enterprise Data Governance forums, as applicableDefining, implementing and running an enterprise-wide data governance program including best practicesCollaborating with other data governance leads, defining data standards, rolling out data governance processes, and ensuring the organization meets compliance and regulatory data requirementsLeading strategically, establishing relationships with stakeholders, working cross functionally, and articulating business needs and benefits of data governance.

Skills & Experience

In-depth knowledge and experience in data governance best practices, methods and operating modelsExperience in leading a team of data stewardsSolid understanding of healthcare industry and privacy regulatory requirements; healthcare experience a plusAbility to be an innovator and a strategic thinker in data governance spaceAbility to perform cross-functionally in a complex, high-paced environment, with ability to influence othersFamiliarity with data security and protection methodologiesFamiliarity with healthcare industry standardsComfortable with working in an agile work environmentProject Management and/or Six Sigma skills are a plusSkillful verbal, listening and written communication with management teams and peer groupsKnowledge of Discovery Relational concepts (DataBricks, Teradata Information Warehouse), Metadata Catalog (Collibra, Alation), Statistical Techniques (SPC-XL), Data Profiling & Gap Analysis, Proficiency with MicroSoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word. Experience in Mainframe (TSO, JCL, SQL).At least 10 years of experience leading a team of data-centric professionals with extensive experience in pharmacy, data stewardship, data policy and standards development.
