Position Summary / Career Interest:Coordinates and conducts The Birth Place (TBP) pre-admission visits for expectant parents. Job duties include: scheduling tours and tracking participation, data collection and analysis, and patient education. This individual interacts closely with physicians & physician office staff to coordinate pre-admission visits and transfer of patient records. Is the primary contact for establishing an OMC / Patient relationship prior to admission. Assures information and education are provided prior to the patient's admission and identifies risk factors, special health needs, special access needs prior to admission to facilitate a quick and efficient admission process.

Responsibilities and Essential Job FunctionsCollaborates with physicians and their office staff, ancillary departments, and community resources to coordinate services and improve communication and processes. Obtains admission health information and medical history.  Completes accurate medication reconciliation.  Identifies risk factors and special care needs and communicates appropriately.  Obtains signatures on consents, provides education on TBP stay, provides resource information as needed. Maintains confidential patient prenatal records and files.  Accurately enters patient data into electronic medical record.  Maintains resource files. Coordinates, schedules, and conducts tours and collects sign-in sheets as directed. Provides patient referrals to hospital and community resources based on risk factors and patient needs identified. Provides patient and family education on antenatal procedures, labor and delivery processes, procedures, and expectations, and standard post-partum and neonatal care. Collects and reports data for various statistical reports, improvement projects, and needs.  Reviews statistics and uses information to improve services provided. Coordinates care, specifically complex cases, with CNS, nursing staff, physician, and ancillary departments. Works with Marketing Department to promote the Pre-Admission Program and tours throughout the community. Keeps current with community and national changes and trends as they apply to delivering women and provides suggestions and ideas to continually improve services provided at OMC. Cross-trained within TBP to assist as needed. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Required Education and ExperienceAssociate Degree Nursing Obstetric clinical nursing experience
Preferred Education and ExperienceBachelors Degree
Required Licensure and CertificationLicensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing (Kansas) or compact license
