About the role This position is responsible for learning the fundamentals of building and repairing new and existing dies, tooling, and automation components in a safe, clean, and efficient manner under the guidance of experienced toolmakers. Responsibilities Assures for all assigned equipment, safety guarding is in place and all areas of the machines are clean, neat and organized Begins the process of understanding: Tooling specifications, blueprints, and sketches Set up and operation of mills, lathes, grinders, including CNC controlled, and other machining equipment Making and repairing cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges Takes direction from experienced toolmakers or from the Tool Room Manager Learns to analyze the assignment and proceed in a professional, timely manner until the assignment is complete Gains an understanding of completing assignments in a timely manner within proper quality specifications Peforms additional duties as assigned Qualifications Ability to gain knowledge of using precise measuring instruments Self-motivated and capable of retaining knowledge acquired from experienced toolmakers Interest in attaining knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance Ability to communicate clearly Ability to work as part of a team and take direction properly Ability to utilize Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook at a basic level Ability to focus on a single source of sound in the presence of other distracting sounds Ability to communicate in verbal and written English Requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling Requires eye/hand/foot coordination Requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Travel Up to 1% may be required What We Offer Our normal comprehensive benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance programs 401K plans with employer-matching contributions Tuition reimbursement PTO Paid holidays Volunteer time off For more information about benefits, please go to: https://careers.leviton.com/benefits Leviton is an EEO Employer - Veterans and Disabled.
