This candidate will be reporting into the Transportation and Power Systems (TAPS) division under the Grid Integration team. Our team, working out of building 300’s “Smart Energy Plaza”, performs hands on testing surrounding electric vehicle charging and grid management. The 10-15 researchers within our group each work closely together on different projects, bringing our own level of expertise and value not only to our group, but to Argonne National Laboratory as a whole.
We are looking for an individual that has automotive and/or hands-on project experience. The Next-Gen Profiles (NGP) project led by Argonne National Laboratory is performing electric vehicle DC fast charging performance analysis using our on-site chargers and vehicles. Our team needs additional support on capturing charge session data & performing analysis on the data in post for our yearly published technical reports.
The electrical engineering research position will be working with electric vehicles and DC fast chargers. The successful candidate should have experience and competence working with electrical systems and the adaptability to work with new and innovative electrical designs.
This position will involve:
Instrumenting DC fast charger cabinets & dispenser.
Performing High Voltage switching as a Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW2).
Highway drive cycling vehicles to achieve battery preconditioning.
Working with multiple software (LabVIEW, VSpy3, Vector CANoe, etc.) while running charge sessions.
Ability to create custom scripts for data analysis, plotting, and report generation.
Position Requirements
