Position: Pre-Make Ready

Location: Waco, Texas

Wage:  $20.44

Job Status: Full Time

Work Schedule: 3pm – 11pm

Reporting directly to the Department Supervisor as a Press Make Ready technician, you will be responsible for cleaning and setting up parts for presses in a quick and safe manner.

Essential Functions

Collaborating closely with other departments and teamsPreparing printing press parts by cleaning, wiping, and washing partsPulling, sorting, and placing materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standardsOpening bales, crates, and other containersHaving the ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot problems and situations.Making incremental process adjustments, monitoring and reporting quality of manufactured product. Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area. Performing all duties as designated by supervisor/manager.Performing all duties in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies.Helping other departments as neededWearing proper PPE

Qualifications

We expect you to be Sonoco mission driven.Previous experience in packing/warehousing is extremely helpful.You must have a “get it done” attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.To succeed in this role, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills.Working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.You need to have working knowledge of our products and their quality requirements.Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.You will need to be able to lift to 50 lbs. as needed.Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.You will need to have the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.You will need to be able to perform repetitious duties, including stairs and standing for long periods of time.You will need to have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship.

Work Environment

Work is performed indoors in a manufacturing setting with regular exposure to cold, heat, noise and moving machines/equipment.

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF CERTIFICATION TEST IS REQUIRED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF HIRE.
