Sportsman Boats, located in Summerville, SC, is looking for a PRE-MILL CONSTRUCTION CARPENTER who   will work with the milling operations team in the fabrication of wood and foam plugs and plug builds.  These plugs are a vital part in the production of Sportsman Boat's new product lines. What you will do: + Assist in set up of 5 axis machines for milling large complex parts + Fabricate large wood platforms for new plug builds + Work with EPS foam, tooling board and other composites to construct plugs to be milled + Follow CAD drawing specifications for detailed foam layouts + Work with chemicals including epoxy putty, spray glue and 2-part foam + Operate a fork lift + Keep work area clean and organized at all times + Follow safety standards at all times + Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned What you need to have: + High school diploma or GED required + Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and work instructions + Possess good mechanical aptitude, good manual dexterity, knowledge of tools and their use + Experience with carpentry operating air/hand tools, drills, saws, and grinders + Task oriented, demonstrated ability to learn, work independently, and under instruction as needed + Strong attention to detail + Comprehension of chemicals used in this process + Good eye sight + Strong oral and written communication skills in English + Able to work overtime when necessary Our work environment: This job operates in a manufacturing plant environment.  Areas of the plant may not be temperature controlled and sometimes requires working during hot humid weather.   Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. + Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. + Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, lift, climb, and bend for 9 hours or more daily Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.; some overtime and weekends as needed.
