Summary :The Pre-Registration Specialist performs pre-registration duties for scheduled patients to ensure that necessary information is in place to support quality, timely service. Verifies benefits, calculates the patient's financial liability, validates demographic information, and performs point of service collections. Communicates essential information regarding the scheduled service to the patient.Job Description:KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Pre-registers patients including obtaining and validating demographic and insurance information while maintaining a 95% quality rating and meeting appropriate productivity metrics.
Processes patient pre-registrations and admissions timely and accurately.
Reviews and completes identified tasks in the ADT system.
Verifies patient insurance and benefits.
Creates patient estimates to determine the patient’s financial liability.
Collects and processes payments from patients.
Reconciles payments made within the day.
Answers phones, takes appropriate action, and forwards when necessary to appropriate departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED preferred
Must be 18 years of age
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normally works in climate controlled office environment
Frequent sitting and standing with movement throughout work space
Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
Occasional high noise level in work environment
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients
Use of computers throughout the work day
Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
