We are seeking an energetic, skilled​ Pre-Treatment Wastewater Plant Technician in our Penn Yan, NY location.
We operate 24 / 7, 7 days per week. This opportunity will require flexibility to work weekends and overtime.
Main Functions:
The Operator is responsible to operate, monitor, maintain, adjust and troubleshoot the pre-treatment plant and its processes.
Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of Pre-Treatment plant operations, compliance with Federal, State and Local operating regulations. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Engineering Manager, subject to review through reports and results achieved.

The expected compensation range for this position is: $21.00/hour + $.50/hour overnight shift differential when worked.

Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Plant Engineering Supervisor, subject to review through reports and results achieved.
Primary Objectives:
Coordinate GSF Quality activities and operations to meet objectives for quality, food safety, regulatory compliances, cost, safety and customer satisfaction at KanPak. Participate in formulating and administering division’s short and long range goals and objectives for business growthPerform all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the Pre-Treatment process.Maintain a clean and organized Pre-Treatment plant.Observe ALL aspects of Pre-Treatment plant regularly.Performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all Pre-Treatment plant equipment and machinery.General observation of the Pre-Treatment Plant perimeter throughout the shiftObserve Pre-Treatment Plant Dashboard, HMI, and SCADA system frequentlyMonitor All PH probes within the system. Inspect and Clean PH probes during your shift, using care to ensure that the probes are NOT damaged during cleaning.Assess and Schedule the need for trucks for Sludge and Off Spec. Food Waste haul offsLoading of the Off-Spec. Food Waste and Sludge trucks.Monitor and adjust Pre-Treatment Plant Chemical setpoints to optimize water quality per Village RequirementsMonitor and Replenish Pre-Treatment system Chemicals and supplies as neededSing out parts from parts inventory as neededComplete shift report and daily documentation needed and send documents to required teams.Communicate with the Main Facility Production Team throughout shift on daily production scheduleKeep empty totes and barrels organized by supplier for ease of removalAssist in snow removal and salting of walkways/sidewalksOther tasks as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Have a working knowledge of the operation, methods and procedures of the Pre-TreatmentHave a working knowledge of general mechanical tools, to use for basic repairs.Have a working knowledge of the machinery used for Pre-Treatment and pumping stations.Have a knowledge of the equipment and the ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunction.Have a thorough knowledge of the chemicals utilized in the Pre-TreatmentHave the ability to communicate issues/concerns with the rest of your team members daily.Must be self-motivatedHonesty/IntegrityReliabilityAccountabilityMust show pride, enthusiasm, and initiative in workServe as a team memberMaintain confidentiality of highly sensitive informationAbility to learn new skills and techniques.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Follow written and oral instructions.Must be able to work flexible hours. QualificationsPhysical Requirement’s:
Have the ability to climb and descend multiple ladder/stair rungs to access pumps on top of EQ/MBBR tank and top of Sludge tank.Have the ability to lift 50 poundsHave the ability to detect and differentiate colors, sounds, and smells.Have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand as job may require.
Employment Requirements:
