Essential Duties:

Plan, develop, coordinate, and conduct training to include, self-harm prevention, suicide prevention, and other training in compliance with MTC and TDCJ directives. Provide for the care, custody and adherence to rules and regulations of offenders assigned to specific work areas. Identify, track, and monitor at-risk Inmates; update necessary database and notify appropriate management staff daily. Report Prison Rape Eliminate Act (PREA) violations, including sexual assault or sexual harassment of Inmates to designated supervisor, Complete required documentation, and other required forms for submission in accordance with contract requirements. Supervise and provide custody and security of offenders including observation of offenders and offenders assigned to work duty which includes long periods of sitting and standing. May participate in the supervision and may direct searches for contraband including “pat” and “strip” searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions. Read, review, and properly apply information found in Inmate records which is related to the Inmates’ health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information for other personnel on a need- to-know basis. Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports to include oversight of SSPANS.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED) required. Two (2) years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience. A valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.  Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include physical agility testing and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
