Genomic variant results currently exist in PDF documents that are difficult to find within patients' electronic medical record in Epic. Parkview recently implemented Epic's Genomics Module, which contains discrete fields to house structured genomic data. This Summer Internship Position will allow the Interns to manually enter genomic variant data from PDF reports and/or genomic data contained within Excel reports into discrete fields in Epic. Interns will gain an understanding of how genomic test result data is used for patient care.
This Summer Interns will manually enter genomic variant data from PDF reports and/or genomic data contained within Excel reports into discrete fields in Epic. Interns may conduct case reviews for genomic patients.
The specific skillsets that we would like your intern to possess include attention to detail, self-motivation, independent learning and proficiency with computer-based systems. Experience with Epic not required but considered a plus. The specific degree program that would best fit this position include Genomics/genetics, pharmacogenomics, medicine, healthcare, cancer biology, and molecular biology.
The working hours will be flexible throughout the summer internship experience. Hours may vary by week but should be approximately 30-40 per week. Must be a current undergraduate college student or graduate college student. Specific educational focus or degree may be preferred depending on the hosting department of the internship. Specific license and/or certification may be preferred depending on the hosting department of the internship. GPA of 3.0 or above Submission of Cover Letter Resume and Letter of Recommendation. Other qualifications may vary by department of internship.
