Prematch Technician AssistantPosition Overview

Performs sample preparation and operates equipment necessary to produce concentrate orders.
Essential Duties (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):
Note: Specific requirements for the job can be found in the associate’s job procedures.
Operates machines and equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to established procedures and specifications.
Prepares letdown samples for all materials to produce fiber card wraps and color plaques for batch checks, raw materials, spot checks, adjustments, and pre-matching.
Performs melt flow rate, moisture checks, and pellet count as required.
Operates high speed mixer to make press-out plaque, using a hydraulic press, for color evaluation.
Insures proper labeling of all samples.
Insures all machines are set up to required process specifications.
Performs regular and routine inspection of all processing equipment for any malfunctions or deviations to insure accurate performance.
Insures that all equipment used in the preparation of samples is clean and free of contaminates.
Records and maintains zone and melt temperature on the sample lines.
Records all samples on the Plant 86 Sample Log Sheet when delivered to the lines.
Submits pre-mix sheet and identified plaque/yarn to the Color Technician for color evaluation.
Maintains mixer and press area.
Maintains proper retains on all resins and standard white used in lab.
Maintains pigment inventory in lab and insures all retains are identified correctly.
Reports all unavailable pigments for color matching to the Color Compounding Lead II (Prematch) or Color Technician II (Prematch).
Obtains pigment from inventory. Communicates with Color Compounding Tech Assistant (1190) when pigments cannot be reached.
Disposed of all pigments and concentrate when notified by the Color Compounding Lead II (Prematch) or Color Technician II (Prematch).
Calibrates lab equipment as needed.
Disposes of waste and sampling materials, in their proper containers.
Label waste containers and notifies Color Blend Technician when waste containers are full.
Uses electric pallet jack to move boxes and containers.
Reports any processing malfunction, safety hazards, or other problems concerning job performance to the Color Compounding Lead II (Prematch).
Adheres to all lock out/tag out procedures.
Performs housekeeping as required.
Complies with procedures found in Shaw Management System (SMS).
Actively participates in the Quality P.R.I.D.E.
Performs all job duties using safe work methods.
Complies with Corporate Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy.
Complies with S.A.F.E. System procedures.
Works normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Works overtime as required.

Assists Color Compounding (Color Plant) associates, as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift, carry, climb, and reach as required.
Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds as required.
Must be able to ascend and descend stairs/ladders as required.
Other Requirements:
Must make an acceptable score on the Color Test.
Must have at least six (6) months Color Plant or Color Lab experience or its equivalent.
Must possess good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
Must perform any other job duties as assigned by supervision.
Training Requirements:
Must attend a one (1) day orientation training session familiarizing new associate with the Plant and basic procedures.
Must attend Quality/Safety training as required.
Must participate in an on the job training session familiarizing the new associate with their job duties.
Tool, Equipment, & Material Requirements:
Responsible for safety equipment issued including safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, and safety vest.
Responsible for equipment, materials, and supplies necessary to perform assigned tasks.
Safety & Security Requirements:
Must maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
Must report any unsafe conditions to supervision.
Must report all accidents no matter how slight to supervision immediately.
Must wear personal protective equipment as required while on the job.
Must comply with all plant and department safety rules and regulations.
Must wear safety required shoes.
