Premium & Commission Operations Lead

SWBC is seeking a talented individual to be responsible for overseeing the financial reporting, reconciliation, and accounting of insurance premium transactions and commission payments. This role ensures the accuracy and compliance of all financial transactions related to insurance products within the Product Administration division. The individual will work closely with finance, accounting, operations, development and product teams to analyze transaction data and streamline processes, to ensure operational efficiency and accurate financial reporting.

Essential duties include the following:

Ensures accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of premium transactions and commission payouts across all insurance products.Analyzes and validates commission structures and adjustments to ensure compliance with contractual agreements.Supports commissions operations with the setup and approval of distributions, carriers, and products.Collaborates with finance and accounting teams to support month-end and year-end closing processes.Identifies discrepancies in premium collections, payments, or commission calculations and resolve them promptly.Partners with IT and business teams to improve automation and accuracy and resolve system related issues in premium and commission processing systems.Works with internal business units to create reporting for clients and business partners, analyzing data across multiple insurance and accounting systems to support financial transactions, and payments to agents, carriers, and clients.Acts as a key liaison between product administration, accounting, and external stakeholders regarding financial transactions.Prepares, reviews, and posts journal entries into the accounting general ledger system.Reviews and approves general ledger reconciliations.Provides training and support to the team members as the subject matter expert on the team and assists in creation of team processes.Works special projects as assigned.Performs other duties as required.

Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or four-year university required, masters degree preferred.Field of study in Business, Accounting, or Finance with specific coursework in Accounting preferred.Minimum of eight (8) years of experience performing similar listed duties or experience in business operations required, preferably in the insurance industry.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.Knowledge of accounting principles.Proficient Microsoft Excel and Word skills.Basic 10-key touch skills.Excellent organizational skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Able to use basic office equipment, including a copy machine, personal computer, and fax.Able to type 40 WPM.Able to sit for long periods of time performing sedentary activities.Able to stand and stoop to file for long periods of time.Able to push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs. of files, supplies, documents, or other related items.
