We are currently hiring for the Prep Operator position. Openings are available on 1st shift. Shifts are 10 hrs rotating schedules. POSITION SUMMARY Job Description: Operates the Extructor machine and troubleshoots as necessary in order to produce quality product to satisfy production needs throughout shift. Primary Responsibilities: 1. Picks up all equipment and recipes required to properly operate the Extructor for scheduled product before the start of each shift. 2. Ensures that paperwork is complete and accurate. 3. Eliminates cheese waste throughout the operation. Fills out scrap and WIP tickets at the end of the shift. 4. Obtains and calibrates scales when needed. 5. Ensures the cheese (or other commodity) appearance is consistent with recipe standards and no off odors are present. Ensures that cheese and/or mixture is properly covered and labeled at all times. 6. Remove all condensation from walls, equipment, and ceilings before start-up and checks for condensation throughout shift. 7. Models the Springville Compass in all work-related activities. 8. Performs all other duties as assigned by Team Leader ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION 1. Understand verbal and written instructions in English. 2. Maintains awareness of your surroundings in order to avoid collisions with fork-lift drivers and other machinery and employees on the floor. 3. Must follow safety rules and procedures including the wearing of safety shoes, hearing protection, bump cap, safety glasses and whizard gloves where appropriate. 4. Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), USDA policies and the food safety program. 5. Identify sub-standard ingredients, products, or procedures and take corrective action to insure GMP’s. 6. Must be able to transport oneself to, from, and around one’s designated work area on concrete surfaces which are often uneven, wet, and slippery. 7. Detect and understand warning lights, buzzers, alarms, or instruments indicating hazardous conditions or circumstances which may cause equipment or product loss and physical harm. 8. Work every scheduled day and arrive at workstation at or before the scheduled starting time. 9. Communicate effectively with various support groups, supervisors, and team members. 10. Must be able to weigh commodities accurately. 11. Must be able to add, subtract, and multiply. 12. Must have legible handwriting. 13. Work in temperatures ranging from 35 degrees F. to 100 degrees F. 14. Must be able to stand and maintain a position at a workstation for a 9-10 hour period with two 15-minute breaks. One half hour is allotted for a lunch break. 15. Able to work at least 40 hours per week on an assigned shift with some daily overtime required in case of emergencies and weekend overtime required. 16. Is able to function effectively as a team member or in one-on-one situations, and with minimum supervision. 17. Push/pull each or all of the following items up to 1,000 feet (one at a time) up to 100 times during a 9-10 hour period: V-mag (400 lbs.), Doughtrough (300 lbs.), 12 pan rack (250 lbs.). 18. Lift/carry (from as low as floor level up to 6 feet) boxes of ingredients (50 lbs.), pans (40 lbs.) up to 300-500 times in a 9-10 hour period. 19. Must be able to open, lift, and transport cases of cheese or other commodities (approximately 50 lbs each) continuously throughout an 9-10 hour shift. 90 days of food manufacturing experience working in a Nestle factory preferred It is our business imperative to remain a very inclusive workplace.
