We are seeking a PrePress Manager for our First Quality Print & Packaging facility located in Anderson, SC. The Pre-Press Manager, working under the direction of the Business Development Leader. As a prepress manager, you oversee the development of a printing project before it enters printing.
Your responsibilities are specifically to ensure that the graphics or other designs are properly prepared and that the technical specifications are clear to the press operator. You also proofread material and format the project according to the specifications provided to you by the clients. As a manager, you also hire and train new prepress technicians and teach them how to operate prepress equipment and perform other duties for the department.
Primary responsibilities include:
Oversee or train employees to operate, inspect, and maintain all support equipment as needed.Responsible for the duties associated with, but not limited to the mounting of plates.Producing flexo plates as needed to ensure deadlines are met within the department.Ensure integrity/quality of plates.Establish & maintain a high level of quality, productivity, and waste mitigation.Establish/maintain vendor product and service performance.Strategize daily with facility planner, to maximize output and optimize machine.Demonstrate design and layout knowledge and be able to translate knowledge into layouts.Strong skillset in troubleshooting in the ability to determine causes of operation errors and how to resolve.Follow all GMP, SQF and OSHA and plant policies and procedures.Perform all other duties as required or directed, with or without accommodation.Conducts job in a manner which complies to the food safety program (SQF).Participates in Food Safety Activities.Reports food safety problems immediately to supervisor or a QA team member. Takes action when appropriate.The ideal candidate should possess the following:
Bachelors in graphics arts or Packaging Science preferred, but requisite experience may be accepted in lieu of education. 2+ years in printing/manufacturing environment.You also need significant customer service and verbal communication skills because a large portion of your job is to consult with the clients about the scope and nature of the project and to provide advice and assessments related to formatting and designing graphic features for the material.Additional qualifications for the job include working knowledge of design software, such as InDesign or Illustrator along with mechanical ability.Walk/stand 100% of time during a 12-hour shift.Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and squatting throughout shift.Occasional climbing and reaching Occasional reaching overhead during shift.Frequent pushing and pulling with arms and legs throughout shift.Frequent lifting or carrying items/product weighing 10 pounds.Occasional lifting or carrying items/product weighing up to 50 pounds.Constant use of hands Constant light and firm grasping with hands throughout shift.Daily sweeping and organizing floor and work area.Occasional climbing of steps.Balance required for some tasks.Maintains 5s housekeeping standards.Ability to maintain records and logs.Ability to operate a PC.Ability to use hand tools proficiently.Ability to work in a Tobacco Free Facility and on a Tobacco Free CampusFirst Quality is committed to protecting information under the care of First Quality Enterprises commensurate with leading industry standards and applicable regulations.
