Preschool Teaching Assistant
The Teaching Assistant position is an integral part of the staffing design of the Brighton Preschool/Parent Program at Brighton Central School District. To adapt to the various demands of multiple work settings and varied team members (i.e., occupational, physical and speech language therapists and classroom teachers), the teaching assistant must remain flexible. The work schedule is Monday – Thursday; 26 hours a week. The major responsibilities of the teaching assistant are focused on direct interaction with students. The exact nature of this interaction is determined by each student’s developmental level and needs. Some students have Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) that are supported by the classroom teacher and the teaching assistant. Maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of this job is essential. Job Goal: + The teaching assistant provides direct support of the instructional process for their assigned student(s), under the general supervision, direction, and guidance of the classroom teacher. As a teaching assistant, you'll be a key part of creating an exceptional learning environment for three- and four-year-olds.
