Job Overview

The Specialist, Visual Presentation Standards & Training supports Macy's in its continued evolution and transformation as a modern retailer. This colleague serves as an integral member of a team responsible for the consistent execution of merchandise presentations through the development and maintenance of comprehensive merchandise standards manuals and effective training tools across all business categories.

This colleague actively collaborates with a variety of stakeholders across multiple functions, keeping the customer and colleague at the center of all decision-making. They possess knowledge of merchandising trends, as well as merchant and marketing strategies, aligning priorities to support the business's needs.

 

What You Will Do

Create presentation standards and training content for all business areas, focusing on growth opportunities and strategic initiatives. Develop seasonal merchandising techniques that inspire and enhance in-store presentations. Enforce Macy’s Brand Standards across all created materials. Collaborate with Visual Creative, Stores’ Merchandise Execution, Visual Communications, and Merchant teams to establish dynamic merchandising guidelines across all families of business (FOBs). Work closely with the Specialist, Graphic Illustrator, to produce accurate renderings that are easy to follow for in-store execution. Develop engaging training materials to assist in onboarding and developing store teams. Design and write content for multimedia training materials, including videos, virtual training sessions, and TIPs Trainings. Identify opportunities to improve the store's processes for maintaining strong Merchandise Presentation Standards and training. Actively seek innovative methods to distribute training materials effectively. Manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results. Perform other duties as required.

Visual Merchandising Expertise: Strong visual merchandising skills with the ability to coach and train others to execute consistent presentations.

Sales and Execution Focus: A proactive approach to driving sales through effective standards and training tools that resonate with store teams.

Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey priorities and strategies across various channels, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.

Agility: Capability to adapt to changing priorities while managing multiple projects and ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Analytical Skills: Proficient in assessing merchandise execution processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and recommending solutions.

Adaptability: Flexibility to navigate company limitations, adjust to changing business needs, and stay informed about industry trends and competition.

Customer Focus and Competitive Analysis: Comprehensive understanding of the retail landscape, including merchandising execution and virtual opportunities.

Training Leadership: Experience in leading training efforts in various formats, including in-person, virtual, and hands-on.

Influence and Collaboration: Ability to influence cross-functional partners and drive initiatives from inception to implementation.

Accountability and Trust: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive results while holding indirect teams accountable.

Detail Orientation: Highly organized with a strong ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Curiosity and Initiative: A desire to explore alternative ideas and improve tools and processes, not satisfied with the status quo.

Time Management: Strong administrative skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and follow through effectively.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Mac OS and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), with a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (INDD and Illustrator). SketchUp skills are a plus.

Discretion: Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and maintain confidentiality.

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 5+ years of experience in a retail environment with experience in visual merchandising or merchandise execution.  Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision. Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs. Able to travel 10%.
