PRESERVATION WORKER - MiFamily Together - Full Time

 

We are searching for Preservation Workers to join our Samaritas Family Preservation Team! This position will be in the brand-new MiFamily Together (MiFT) program, that is a pilot program covering Muskegon/Ottawa/Allegan counties and is replacing previous Family Preservation programs in the service area. Samaritas is excited to be partnering with the State of Michigan to bring this new program to life!

 

MiFamily Together is a family preservation and reunification, home-based program that offers families flexible services that adapt to their needs.  MiFamily Together is designed to decrease the risk of child maltreatment while also helping to increase wellbeing and prosperity of each family member. MiFT workers will provide services to families, in their homes, for up to six months, utilizing Protective Factors and the 2Gen Approach. MiFT workers will meet with families every week, complete comprehensive assessments, collaboratively develop family goals and assist families in attaining new skills and resources.

Provides intensive, short term or long-term in-home crisis intervention and family education, based on program specification, to at-risk families.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Provide in-home crisis-oriented treatment, education and support to family units where one or more family members may be placed outside the home in foster, group, or institutional care or, be at-risk of being removed from the home. Provide a range of interventions to children, adults, and families, using acceptable treatment methodologies consistent with the Family Preservation best practice model. Actively participate as a member of team meetings; keep all members informed of case status and progress; provide oral and written reports as needed and make recommendations about case goals, alternative service plans, action steps and activities for treatment plans. Assist clients to clearly define presenting problems, devise methods and goals for resolution, assess their progress toward treatment goals and plan termination. Present cases to supervisor for review of treatment plans and progress on a regularly scheduled basis. Provide appropriate referrals for clients requiring additional or alternative services. Assume therapeutic responsibility for all cases on assigned caseload; conduct intake, assessment and scheduling of all assigned clients. Collaborate with referral sources, agencies, institutions and individuals who have important roles in the family's life situation. Provide advocacy and professional consultation work with the referring organization, schools, court, and other social service agencies as needed. Complete client follow up at intervals as outlined. Complete and maintain all reports, statistics and assignments as required. Enter all required data in required systems in a timely manner. Participate in all required training and effectively implement learned skills. _________________________________________________________________________________

Job Qualifications Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

 

Requires a minimum of Bachelor degree in any human service field or education, OR Two years' experience working with children and/or families and an associate degree or the equivalent in human services or education and be actively working towards a bachelor degree in human services or education will be considered.

 

Experience

 

Field experience working with multi-problem children and families with ability to relate to and engage with these families preferred. Experience in strength-based, family-centered, solution focused approaches beneficial. 

 

Additional Work Requirements

 

Participation in a system of 24-hour availability to families as required. Weekend and evening hours required. Valid driver's license with good driving record; reliable ongoing personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients; current automobile registration and proof of automobile insurance.
