**Job Summary:** Leads and directs all aspects of UNCH Medical Group (Community Physicians). Assures operational success to achieve stated goals and objectives. Participates in Health Care System and UNC Physicians senior leadership team to represent UNCH Medical Group in decision-making, setting priorities, and managing assets within the organization. Provides an atmosphere conducive to team development and professional growth for associates within the physician enterprise. Demonstrates and promotes corporate values, service excellence behaviors and continuous improvement.
**Description of Job Responsibilities:**
1. Leads and directs all aspects of UNCH Medical Group, to assure the organization's success and position within the healthcare and business community through executive leadership, operational policies and procedures and maintaining appropriate accountabilities and expectations of direct reporting and executive staff to assure organizational, team, and individual performance standards are met.
2. Oversees, monitors, and responds to the adequacy and soundness of the organization's financial structure. Provides leadership and feedback to subordinates so as to optimize financial outcomes, service improvement, and market position.
3. Provides guidance, direction, instruction, and appropriate authorization to staff so that programs and services are designed and delivered consistent with established policies and UNCH HCS Board approval.
4. Represents the organization with major customers, the financial community, and the public. Interacts appropriately with members of the Board of Directors, medical staff, employees and management and carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Collaborates with key leaders across the healthcare system; UNCH Entity Presidents, UNCH Statewide Network, CEO’s of UNCH Affiliate Hospitals and Shared Services leaders to ensure ongoing alignment in support of the organization.
5. Reviews operating results of the organization, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate results are achieved as desired. Sets objectives to assure continued success, improvements in quality and outcomes, and establishes environment where successful performance is valued.

**Qualifications**
**Education Requirements:** MD or DO degree required from an accredited institution. Board certified in appropriate discipline
**Licensure/Certification Requirements:** Active and current state medical license without encumbrances
**Professional Experience Requirements:** Requires a minimum of twelve (12) years of clinical experience, with at least ten (10) years of leadership experience. Holds a deep understanding of core clinical business functions (e.g. Legal, Communications/Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, etc.)
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:** Understands the overarching System operations and policies that guide the organization. Drives and develops innovative ideas and solutions with significance to the organization’s future. Identifies problem areas and skill gaps proactively and addresses them appropriately. Excellent project management and change management skill.

This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, in a department that provides shared services to operations across UNC Health Care; except that, if you are currently a UNCHCS State employee already working in a designated shared services department, you may remain a UNCHCS State employee if selected for this job.
