Made Possible.** *****Eligible for $2,000 Hiring Bonus***** **(Direct Hire ONLY)** The position is an entry-level position and is intended to be used for “flex” purposes to allow maximum training and development. Employees can be assigned to a variety of tasks within the parameters of the union contract at the Manufacturing Supervisor’s discretion. This position has a special emphasis on training within the department. We are currently seeking candidates for 2nd shift (11 pm - 7 am) and 3rd shift (11 pm - 7 am). Both shifts work Monday - Friday with occasional overtime required on weekends, as needed. 1. Observe company safety rules and comply with safety practices. 2. Performs general housekeeping functions in assigned areas. 3. Assists in press operations in a safe and efficient manner 4. Follows direction of department leadership and /or Press operators and 2nd Press operators as needed to support production needs 5. Backs up Press Helper as required 6. Learns all aspects of press operations 7. Ensures that product quality, production efficiencies, and scrap rates meet or exceed established standards. 8. Responsible for compliance with all facility production and product safety standards including food safety, food defense, and quality policies. 9. Support machine operations as assigned by department leadership 10. Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork). 11. Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes. 12. Performs all other duties as assigned. 13. Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and deliver results to meet or exceed customer expectations. 14. Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements. 15. Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements. 16. Education: High school diploma or GED required. 17. Judgment and maturity – Average degree of both required **Physical/Mental Requirements** Frequent/strenuous physical effort (lifting, moving heavy objects, etc.) is required. Union wage scale starts at $19.96/hour with automatic raises up to $25.50/hour. Candidates with manufacturing experience may be considered for placement within the wage scale at a rate above the starting wage. Additional pay includes differentials of $0.80/hour for second shift and $1.00/hour for third shift. This role is intended to progress into a Press Assistant II, which pays $28.78-$34.32. Press Assistant II's are trained to become Press Operators, who are paid $42.79+/hour.
