The Press Operator report directly to the Press Manager.

What you will be doing:

Perform complex operations required to set up, operate and feed cylinder type printing press to produce a variety of items.Operate Printing Press according to company printing procedures and guidelines.Direct Press Helper according to company printing and safety procedures.Set-up jobs in the press and monitor the quality of the print as the press is running.Responsible for quality and safety of set-up and safe operational procedures.Communicate pertinent matters of the job with the press operator from the opposite shift at the beginning and end of the shift.Check first piece conformance to specifications.Perform daily and periodic preventative maintenance duties specified for assigned machines/equipment.Maintain cleanliness of machines/equipment and adjacent work area.Utilize satellite containers for Hazardous Waste.“Hazard Waste Generator” – generates hazardous waste as part of production process. (Reference  SOP-HW-201-09, and SOP-HW 202-09) on file.Refer difficulties to group leader or supervisor for analysis and/or remedy.Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are essential to the job.Follow equipment and workplace cleaning/sanitation procedures, to complete Sanitation Checklist.Follow GMP’s and PRP’s and Production SOP’sConduct and document all quality checks for intermediate productFollow CCP monitoring proceduresReport all food safety violations to management.Follow all safety rules.Other duties as assignedParticipate in Sonoco’s Performance System (SPS) activities as required – 5Star, Pillar Teams, Audits, Near Misses, etc.Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are required and expected for job performance.

Knowledge of process variables.Ability to achieve high quality standards.Understanding types of Hazardous Waste and the correct use of storage containers.Proper identification and proper labeling of Hazardous Waste.Hazardous spill containment and clean up.  (Reference SOP-HW-201-09, and SOP-HW-202-09)Daily housekeeping procedures.
