Pricing Manager (Retail)

General Summary:
The pricing manager plays a key role in the day-to-day function of the Pricing across Dollar Tree product categories and is responsible for executing and managing the pricing strategies in alignment with Dollar Tree Merchandising Leadership, the Planning Team, and Pricing Leadership. This position is responsible for overall pricing integrity, CPI overall pricing effectiveness while assisting Merchandising/Planning in meeting margin expectations as budgeted in the Merchandise Financial Plan (MFP). This position will manage 3-4 pricing analysts.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day pricing activities of all Dollar Tree product categories across the end-to-end product lifecycle. This includes, but is not limited to; generating reports, creating spreadsheets, presenting key findings to merchandising teams, and provide fact-based guidance to the Buyers in selecting pricing strategies/rules that result in increased sales, profit, and/or market share.
Update and analyze metrics and performance reports on base, promotional and markdown price recommendations. Identify areas of opportunity and recommendations to improve category metrics on sales, units, and margin with Merchants before finalizing and submitting prices for execution.
Audit all pricing activities to ensure execution accuracy—create reports to track pricing errors, research and resolve pricing issues as reported by stores and/or system-generated reports. Support the development and implementation of price tests to validate strategy success.
Work on special projects, ad hoc analysis, and initiatives related to pricing strategies. Monitor competitor pricing and manage CPI reporting across defined Dollar Tree competitor set and provide opportunities and recommendations for pricing actions as appropriate. Review and monitor Known Value Items (KVIs) across the competitive set for pricing opportunities. Other duties as assigned.
Collaborate, present findings, and execute on strategic initiatives with merchandising and store operations leadership as well as other organizations across the company. Act as the subject matter expert on pricing related activities across the organization including the ability to communicate insights up, down and across the organization.
Mentor and training pricing analysts in job skills and career enhancement activities. Audit analyst activities and skill sets and work on Individual Development Plans to ensure growth and job success. Manage and delegate tasks and projects across the analyst team. Provide weekly touch base meetings with each analyst to follow-up on projects, provide support and tools to ensure success. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Advance proficiency with MS Excel, general proficiency with MS Office applications. Strong presentation skills – creation of and the presentation of data findings and recommendations.Experience accessing data from Micro Strategy and/or other BI Tools.Experience working and generating reports using SQL and/or programming languages and SAS background a strong plus.Ability to learn unique software applications and corporate systems. Proficiency with retail pricing software packages a plus.Strong verbal/written communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines. Ability to lead and work cross-functionally and maintain effective relationships with Merchant and Planning teams. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing work priorities.Minimum Requirements:
Education: bachelor’s degree in the areas of Business, Data Analytics, Operations Research, Statistics, Management Information Systems, Business Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related field
Experience: 3-5 years of decision support experience; specific experience in retail pricing a plus. Experience managing direct reports.
Software: Advance proficiency with MS Excel, general proficiency with MS Office application (Access, Word, and PowerPoint)
