Wage $41.02 - $43.55 per hour (2024)
Reports to Superintendent, Paramedic Service

Location City of Kawartha Lakes. Base, as assigned
Hours Part-time, 24 hours per week (averaged)
Other Part-time employees are required to provide shift availability on the 15 th of each month for the following month, be submitted/assigned per Collective Agreement and must work at least 12 shifts in each 6-month period.

**Job Description**
+ To function in the interchangeable roles of patient care provider and driver while carrying out a range of Paramedic duties in keeping with legislative requirements and departmental policies;
+ Assess and treat patients while demonstrating professionalism, respect, empathy and compassion;
+ Transport patients to and from health care facilities while respecting safe operating procedures;
+ Collaborate effectively with other health care professionals and emergency workers;
+ Deliver oral and written reports with accuracy and completeness including all pertinent information;
+ Promote community awareness of emergency medical services and the profession;
+ Ensure vehicles, equipment and supplies are clean, organized and available;
+ Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned.
**Skills/Education Required**
+ Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma, or equivalent, as defined by the _Ambulance Act_ and Regulations;
+ Successful completion of a Paramedic Diploma from a Community College in Ontario;
+ Advanced Care Paramedics must have successfully completed an Advanced Care Paramedic certification program from a Community College in Ontario;
+ AEMCA certified by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, or AEMCA pending;
+ Possess and maintain certification as a Primary Care Paramedic in the Province of Ontario; Advanced Care Paramedics must hold and maintain MOHLTC Advanced Care Paramedic Certificate;
+ Ability to be certified / cross-certified with Base Hospital in Symptom Relief and Defibrillation, upon employment;
+ Possess and maintain current CPR certificate, all qualifications as specified under the _Ambulance Act_ and Regulations, and a valid Class “F” driver’s licence;
+ Ability to exercise effective problem solving and decision making skills, excellent clinical judgement and assessment skills;
+ Above average oral and written communication, organization, numeracy, and memory skills;
+ Ability to read, write and speak English;
+ Ability to exercise discretion and tact and to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times;
+ Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships;
+ Ability to recognize and react appropriately in stressful or volatile situations;
+ Ability to perform successfully in emotionally and physically demanding situations
+ Ability to access electronic scheduling and Microsoft Outlook via computer
+ Applicants must also be prepared for a variety of assessments during the recruitment process, including written, practical and psychological evaluations.
