Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Azure AKS Engineer to join our dynamic Cloud Infrastructure team. As an Azure AKS Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Kubernetes-based applications on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Your expertise in container orchestration, cloud infrastructure, and Azure services will be crucial to driving the scalability, security, and efficiency of our containerized applications.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Management:

·       Design, implement, and maintain Azure Kubernetes clusters and related services.

·       Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of AKS environments.

·       Configure and manage networking, storage, and compute resources for Kubernetes workloads on Azure.

·       Containerization & Orchestration:

·       Develop and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.

·       Manage deployments, scaling, and automation of containers in AKS using Helm charts and Kubernetes manifests.

·       Implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated deployment to AKS.

·       Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

·       Set up and maintain monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana) to ensure performance and reliability.

·       Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Kubernetes clusters, applications, and infrastructure.

·       Provide root cause analysis for incidents and outages, driving improvements to minimize future incidents.

·       Security & Compliance:

·       Implement security best practices for Kubernetes clusters (e.g., RBAC, network policies, pod security policies).

·       Ensure the compliance of the Kubernetes environments with corporate policies and industry standards.

·       Perform vulnerability assessments and work with DevOps teams to address security concerns.

·       Collaboration & Documentation:

·       Collaborate with DevOps, development, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment.

·       Create and maintain clear, detailed documentation for AKS architecture, deployment strategies, and troubleshooting guides.

·       Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers as needed.

·       Azure Integration:

·       Work closely with other Azure services such as Azure Active Directory (AAD), Azure Load Balancer, Azure Storage, and more to ensure smooth integration with AKS.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

·       Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

·       Minimum 12+ years of experience in IT.

·       Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with Azure and Kubernetes environments.

·       Hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), container orchestration, and DevOps practices.

Technical Skills:

·       Proficiency in Kubernetes (AKS, Helm, kubectl).

·       Strong understanding of Azure cloud services, particularly those relevant to AKS (e.g., Virtual Networks, Azure Storage, Managed Identity).

·       Solid experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, or similar.

·       Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).

·       Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.

·       Strong scripting skills in languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Go.

Soft Skills:

·       Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

·       Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert) are a plus.

·       Experience with serverless computing or Azure Functions.

·       Familiarity with GitOps practices.

·       Knowledge of cloud-native architecture and microservices patterns.

Salary Range:

$137,400 - 233,600 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
