Amazon Flex works directly with independent contractors – called delivery partners – to make deliveries to our customers. With Amazon Flex, individuals can now be their own boss delivering Amazon packages. We are seeking a Principal, Communications for Amazon Flex in policy and issues management, as part of the Worldwide Marketing & Communications team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and leading the business communications strategy for highly visible initiatives in the policy and compliance space worldwide, both proactively and reactively. This includes working in close collaboration with Amazon stakeholders’ teams such as Policy & Compliance, Pubic Policy, Employment Relations, Public Relations, and Legal, as well as Amazon Flex business operations. This role will suit an exceptional communicator with deep experience in managing fast-moving and high-profile issues, the ability to build relationships with cross-functional partners, and an understanding of how communications can shape business perception and sentiment. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, passionate, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently to deliver results. They will possess exemplary written and oral communications skills, the ability to earn trust with and advise leadership, experience in issues management in complex and high-profile organizations, and the capability to flex between strategy and tactical execution. Key job responsibilities - Establish and own communications strategy for Amazon Flex policy and issues management worldwide. - Manage communications strategies on priority policy issues both reactively and proactively. Look around corners to identify emerging topics, and develop plans with stakeholders to address. - Translate complex policy topics into compelling key messages, scripts, research proposals, and other communications assets. - Develop and execute communications plans, including audience analysis, message development, channel selection, and content. - Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communications, and report out on them to leaders. - Think globally and act locally to understand key market and customer differences, and tailor your approach accordingly. Basic Qualifications - 10+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience - Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements - Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs - Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams - Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent - Experience independently driving VP-level documents - Experience guiding creative input, development and execution from concept to completion Preferred Qualifications - MBA - Experience in strategic marketing management and market analysis and demonstrated ability to build and execute a strategy with clear goals and objectives to align to business and service objectives, and support portfolio objectives Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
