Principal, HR Business Partner - Operations

This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams and locations.

We are seeking an experienced HR Leader to support Blue Origins largest function. This HR practitioner will partner with Operations leaders across manufacturing, supply chain, safety, quality, and other support groups within the organization. As an HR lead, you’ll play a crucial role in aligning business priorities with talent strategy for a workgroup spanning various locations and employee types across Blue. This role will report directly to the HR Executive for Operations and viewed as a future successor.  

The HRBP will be responsible for deploying HR initiatives and implementing HR best practices, while positively partnering and influencing the workforce. This lead role will demonstrate deep knowledge of the business to deliver a people strategy that enables this organization to grow and scale. As part of a coordinated HR team, the role requires collaboration with HR solution centers and shared services including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Compensation, Analytics, Diversity-Equity-Inclusion (DEI), and Employee Relations to meet the HR needs of a rapidly growing Operations team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Work with HR leader and Operations leadership to implement a People Strategy that will support growth and operational excellence. Help establish the vision, and culture in support of Blue Origin Operations.  

Represent Blue HR and influence/commit to corporate HR strategy, programs, processes, and initiatives that drive success for Operations.  

Engage and lead workforce development programs and plans for Operations including labor planning and analysis, talent management, leadership development, total rewards, and change management.  

Build out and partner with the learning and development teams to deliver front-line leader training programs to develop the skills of our supervisors and managers.  

Partner with a team of HR partners and HR business partners across the manufacturing sites and build robust and standardize HR process across all operations sites to ensure consistency and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.  

Develop and investigate multiple hypotheses, using a variety of HR data to diagnose underlying causes of key business issues and find opportunities to improve business performance and/or enhance employee engagement.  

Engage in employee and labor relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and investigations to ensure they are appropriately managed and driven, with partnership from the internal ER team. Providing feedback and solutions to complex labor relations issues.  

Build plans to foster a positive work environment that promotes employee engagement and satisfaction across the workforce, focusing within production environments/factories.  

Scale up with senior leader engagement and down and in within the high touch workforce, balance competing priorities and conflicting opinions, and facilitate the best decisions for Blue.  

Leverage data sets and analysis to draw conclusions to integrate HR and business strategies and take action.  

Travel to various operations sites (10-15%) to provide on-site HR support and to foster strong relationships with local leaders and employees.  

Minimum Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s degree  

10+ years of experience in Human Resources, concentrated in operations, manufacturing, or production groups.  

Demonstrated leadership in various HR functional areas, especially organizational development, talent management, employee, and labor relations.  

Demonstrated experience determining and mitigating current and forecasted workforce challenges, and driving resolution that supports business goals in operations or production environments.  

A deep knowledge of HR programs and practices, including applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations regarding both exempt and non-exempt labor.  

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.  

Preferred Qualifications:  

Advanced degree in Business, Human Capital Management, Interpersonal Psychology, or related field.  

Experience with process improvement approaches (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)  

 


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $162,381.00-$227,333.40
