Job Description

Job Overview:

The successful candidate will work in a tobacco analytical production laboratory supporting the validation and transfer of methods on qualified instrumentation on a regular basis, including but not limited to: GC, LC, Dissolution, IC, ICPMS, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

Carry out routine GCMS and LCMS methods in an ISO17025 accredited analytical production lab as part of an insourced services operation.  Serve as Subject Matter Expert in the area of GCMS, LCMS, LC, and GC technology for the team.  Work closely with the client and the Eurofins team to develop, optimize, and transfer new methods into routine production.   Serve as technical liaison to the client and Eurofins laboratory team for method transfers. Perform advanced instrument and method troubleshooting; propose and implement solutions. Collaborate with Eurofins QA and Eurofins Special Projects Team to resolve issues and challenges impacting routine production.  Lead the efforts of implementing continuous improvement projects by documenting ideas, prioritizing projects, documenting projects, maintaining the status, and communicating status to client and lab stakeholders.Mentor and train Eurofins analysts performing routine methods.Perform instrument calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, recognize-errors, identify root causes, maintain excellent working knowledge of instrumentation, and serve laboratory as an LC and LC/MS SpecialistPerform daily laboratory duties to include preparing samples, performing analysis, calculating data, recording/reporting data, performing general housekeeping in alignment with 5S standards, and performing other duties as assigned. Meet all quality and productivity metricsApply the highest quality standard in all areas of responsibility; maintain ISO 17025 quality standards and accreditation for the laboratory.Review data, data notebooks, logbooks, and reports to ensure highest qualityDemonstrate strong client service skillsProactively plan and maximize productivityDemonstrate strong teamwork and collaborationImplement operational improvementsSupport and promote company policies and procedures

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in chemistry (or related discipline) with 15+ years of relevant experience, applicable laboratory experience.  Masters Degree in chemistry (or related discipline) with 10+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience.In-depth, hands-on experience using LCMS, GCMS, LC, and GC laboratory instrumentation and experience with production laboratory operations; IC experience is a plus.In-depth experience in method development, method transfers, instrument troubleshooting, method improvements, process improvements, and training/mentoring junior scientistsExperience working within an established quality system (ISO 17025 preferred)Understanding of production laboratory operationsDetailed-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.Strong written, verbal and presentation skills along with demonstrated ability to collaborate with others.Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitudeAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree (MS or PhD) preferredExperience in the tobacco industry
