Come build your future, while being the reason millions of people find a brighter financial future with Discover. **Job Description:** **What You’ll Do** + Responsible for oversight on design and implementation of products and features capabilities assigned to their team. + Work on POCs to identify possible solutions and recommend the best solution based on architecture design decisions and tradeoffs. + Collaborate with other teams and product owners to finalize the requirements and interfaces between applications. + Work with other engineers on the team to drive the implementation and testing efforts to guide them to achieve key results for products assigned to them. + Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management. + The Data and Analytics Engineering organization is responsible for building the data ecosystem of Discover across all Lines of Business. This involves a range of applications that allow for data curation, ingestion, empower large scale ELT transactions and data egress. + On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be part of a small, close-knit team of engineers that are agile, driven and highly collaborative. You’ll help analyze application performance trends, propose ideas and solutions during sprint planning with your team, implement big ideas and then measure the results. Engineers on our team have moved on to bigger roles within Discover and are influencing decision making at various levels. + Our team is responsible for architecting and building the platform that empowers Data Engineering. The platform we are creating directly impacts the quality of data that is available to build models and campaigns. The team focuses on the automation of code generation and deployment across various platforms, trying to figure out the best way to interact with disparate systems and maintain optimum performance **How You’ll Do It** + Achieves team commitments (and influence others to do the same) through collaboration with other engineers, architects, product owners and chapter leads. + Creates and enforces IT standards within the system/application infrastructure and compatibility with the architecture of the platform. + Creates technology solutions addressing high impact business priorities. Demonstrates the ability to analyze, design, code, test and deploy solutions and product features with high quality to production. Level of technical expertise enables solutions with high complexity and depth. + Competent in multiple technical domains, including programming languages, security, automation, testing, and business domains. As a result, is the go-to person for many people outside of their team. + Participates in strategic technology decisions and understands how these decisions impact Discover as a whole. + Proactively identifies and mitigates issues based on intuition and experience in multiple domains. Is a thought leader amongst team members and drives problem solving to determine root cause. + Coaches technology communities at Discover in areas of specific technology domain, design-thinking, agile software development way of working, security, architecture and/or data engineering. + Achieves team commitments (and influence others to do the same) through collaboration with other engineers, architects, product owners and chapter leads. + Creates and enforces IT standards within the system/application infrastructure and compatibility with the architecture of the platform. **Qualifications You’ll Need** **The Basics** + Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, Information Security, Information Technology, or related + 6+ years of experience in Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related + Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of **Proficient** on the Dreyfus **Engineering** scale. **Physical & Cognitive Requirements** + Primarily remain in a stationary position. + No required movement about the work environment to complete the major responsibilities of the job. + Primarily performed indoors in an office setting. + Ability to operate office equipment such as but not limited to computer, telephone, printer, and calculator. + Ability to communicate verbally.; Ability to communicate in written form. **Bonus Points If You Have** + Python, FastApi, PyTest and the python ecosystem + Java, SpringBoot and OOPS Concepts + Experience with AWS components such as DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, SSM, + Experience with Kubernetes and familiarity with application build deployment concepts + Experience with using Snowflake and ETL optimization practices. + Experience with CICD Tools such as Jenkins and code management software such as Nexus, SonarQube + Backend API development experience + Experience with Microservices and tools like DataDog/ElasticSearch for APM. + Datawarehouse Design and Concepts + Experience with building Platform applications + Familiarity with Agile Development methodologies like Scrum External applicants will be required to perform a technical interview **Discover will not sponsor or transfer employment work visas for this position. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package.
