Principal Application Engineer

We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions. **POSITION SUMMARY:** The Principal Application Engineer (PAE) is a technical leader within the organization with expertise in the treatment of challenging water treatment applications and project execution associated with key vertical markets: electric power generation, chemical processing, pharmaceutical, healthcare, mining, microelectronics, oil refining, food processing, automotive, and contaminated groundwaters. The PAE will be responsible for strategy and water treatment system process design development of the most critical and technically challenging opportunities which Xylem pursues. In support of process design development, the PAE may be involved with developing treatability/pilot plans for trials associated with proving out the efficacy of proposed treatment processes. **CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Development of water treatment process design for treatment of challenging wastewaters or sensitive process water applications + Strategy development for Xylem's most critical and technically challenging opportunities + Lead technical risk review (process design and project execution aspects) on Xylem’s most critical and technically challenging opportunities + Build strong relationships with the technical/process experts and influencers (aka water doctors) of our customers and within the industry. + Engage and potentially lead root cause analysis efforts for water treatment system’s in start-up or operations that are experiencing challenges in meeting process performance guarantees or customer expectations. + Be the technical subject matter expert on key/special opportunities by directly interfacing with potential clients. This may include developing and delivering presentations and leading discussions regarding the technical aspects of our products and technologies in the project pre-award phase. + Develop treatability/pilot study plans and proposals to prove performance. Provide technical direction to teams that are completing the treatability/pilot tests and ultimately review and provide input on final reports. + Provide technical leadership and training to the Xylem's Applications Engineering team + Live our culture and exemplify our Growth Enabling Behaviors to be highly enabled to deliver, highly empowered to succeed and highly accountable to lead. **REQUIREMENTS:** **EDUCATION:** **Required:** BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental desired) **Preferred:** MS degree in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental desired) or Masters of Business Administration **KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:** + Required: 10+ years of experience in technical (process design of water treatment systems) capacity. + Very deep knowledge of treatment techniques for industrial wastewater and process water + Very deep knowledge of equipment used for treatment of industrial wastewater and process water + Excellent interpersonal, communication skills; demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with team members on both technical and business levels. + Self-driven, highly motivated individual capable of taking full ownership of his/her activities. + An effective leader and motivator. + High energy contributor with a focus on getting things done. + An organized multi-tasker.
