We are seeking a visionary and strategic Principal Architect to lead the transformation and modernization of our technology landscape. As Principal Architect, you will be the principal authority on our architectural strategy, responsible for creating a cohesive vision that simplifies our current systems and propels our business forward. You will guide a team of solution architects and a cross-functional architecture team, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence. This is a critical leadership role, pivotal to our long term strategy and key to accelerating our growth by leveraging both in-house developed and third-party solutions effectively.
 Job Responsibilities​

Lead the strategic technical architecture transformation to help simplify our overall ecosystem, reduce fixed costs, and retire legacy platforms.  

Develop and execute a cohesive architectural roadmap that aligns with the company's goals.  

Lead technical evaluations and integration design for strategic 3rd party platforms we use and be a leading voice in any buy vs build evaluations and decisions. 

Spearhead the evolution towards a modern, domain-based, and event-driven architecture, enabling greater agility, scalability, and performance across all brand platforms.  

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of solution architects, each aligned to a business division, and a central cross-functional architecture team 

Establish and enforce architectural governance, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency, security, and quality across the engineering organization.  

Collaborate with executive leadership, product management, and engineering directors to ensure technology strategy is a key enabler of business objectives and product roadmaps.  

Drive innovation by investigating and prototyping new technologies, frameworks, and patterns to maintain a competitive edge in the e-commerce industry. 

Act as a key technical advisor during the due diligence and integration of potential acquisitions and strategic partnerships. 


Job Requirements​

A minimum of 10+ years of experience in a technical leadership capacity with a demonstrable track record of success. 

Proven experience leading large-scale architectural transformations within a high-volume, complex e-commerce or retail environment.  

Extensive knowledge of modern architectural patterns including microservices, API-first design, headless architecture, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).  

Strong experience in designing solutions that incorporate third-party platforms and leading the integration of diverse systems. 

Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor senior-level architects in a federated or matrixed team structure. 

Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical strategies to executive and non-technical audiences.  

Deep understanding of cloud-native technologies (e.g., GCP preferred), data architecture, and modern DevOps practices.  
 

Experience hiring and leading diverse teams

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Physical Requirements:


This position requires you to sit, stand and perform general office functions. You may also be required to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
