Ring is looking to hire a Principal Business Development Manager. As a member of the business development team, you will own complex business opportunities with end-to-end customer, business, and cross-organizational impact.
The Principal Business Development Manager will establish and own strategic relationships with leading companies and drive the ultimate success of projects involving partners and customers. In this role, you will be tasked to deepen relationships across organizations, focus on large efforts that solve significantly complex or ambiguous problems, and develop innovative solutions leveraging new and existing technologies. You will identify and develop a pipeline for internal and external opportunities and close business in an efficient and effective manner. You are trusted to operate with complete autonomy and are often assigned to focus on areas where the business and/or strategy has not yet been defined.
The Principal Business Development Manager will influence organization priorities, business, and technology direction. You communicate cross-functionally to ensure all stakeholders are informed and aligned. You seek insights from data, follow up on anecdotes, and inform / iterate strategy for organizational goals and roadmaps. You continuously propose and evaluate big-idea business opportunities that have significant complexity and broad customer, business, and organizational impact.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and business judgement. They will have the technical aptitude and business acumen needed to negotiate and execute agreements with strategic partners.
Key job responsibilities
1. Identify new business and partnership opportunities that align with Ring’s mission and strategic priorities, analyze opportunities across both qualitative and quantitative dimensions, and communicate recommendations through effective memos written to leadership.
2. Establish vision for new initiatives and see opportunities from inception to launch.
3. Devise and implement all-encompassing business development strategies that align with the overarching growth objectives of the organization.
4. Seek out emerging customer, product, and industry trends through customer insights, competitive, and market analysis and serve as trusted advisor to leadership and partners.
5. Evaluate strategies and opportunities through market sizing, financial forecasting / modeling, profit potential, competitive benchmarking, strategic positioning, product requirements, permission to sell, and overall GTM strategy.
6. Manage both executive and working-level relationships with large technology companies, manufacturers, and service providers.
7. Structure first-of-a-kind deals with partners and negotiate agreements defining key technical and business commitments.
8. Execute partnerships to ensure that agreed contractual terms and obligations are met in a timely manner by both sides.
9. Align partner activities with internal marketing, product, legal, and engineering teams through strong program management.
10. Prepare and deliver business reviews to senior leadership updating on progress and roadblocks.
