Aon South Africa is recruiting a Principal Broker in our Broking department, based on a hybrid basis from our Head office in Sandton. The role of the Principal Broker is to build productive, working relationships with clients and in so doing retain the business unit’s client base.

What the day will look like
Responsible for delivering the Aon broking proposition.
Responsible for leading (if appropriate) a team to deliver the Aon broking proposition
Tailors and implements agreed business unit strategy for broking activities
Responsible for working on complex and high value deals.
Responsible for providing advice to clients and colleagues in respect of:
+ placement design
+ available coverage and capacity
+ likely pricing
+ potential coverage enhancements and
+ market progress.
Responsible for cross-selling into other areas of the business
Responsible for negotiating the terms and conditions of placement
Provides specialist advice to clients and colleagues
Builds strong market relationships across a number of locations
Maintains awareness of all available Aon Specialist products.
Maintains necessary management information and completes required administrative tasks (ECM, time tracking, GRIP data and so on).

Skills and experience that will lead to success
Qualifications.
+ Be in possession of Grade 12 (Matric)
+ Have an insurance related tertiary qualification (Minimum NQF Level 5)
+ Must be registered as a representative with the FSCA in terms of the FAIS Act
+ Must be registered as an associate with the IISA
Knowledge.
+ Knowledge of the South African and international short-term insurance markets.
+ General financial lines product knowledge.
+ Specific Commercial Crime insurance knowledge will be a significant advantage.
+ Strategic knowledge of industry and business strategies and company goals.
+ General knowledge of insurance solutions across the full spectrum of business enterprises in South Africa.
+ Good understanding of applicable legislative environment governing the industry.
+ Solid understanding of risk analysis methodologies.
+ Knowledge of underwriting and claims administration/management, including dealing with complex claims.
Skills and Attributes.
+ Good interpersonal skills.
+ Good communication skills.
+ Ability to work optimally in and with teams.
Experience.
+ Have proven experience within the insurance industry
+ Have significant specific financial lines experience.
+ Commercial crime experience will be a distinct advantage.
+ Experience in financial planning, forecasting and budgeting.
