Partner with the R&D Director in developing and implementing the wood composite research strategy for the Doors division.Leverage in-depth understanding of the chemistry for various wood species, combined with the same for various binder, coating, and adhesive chemistries, to lead the scientific development of advanced wood fiber composites.Provide technical leadership and support for the quality/cost/performance improvement of existing wood-based products in the OC Doors Division.Lead advanced research in wood technologies with external collaborators such as vendors, universities, and research institutes. Formulate value growth opportunities from advanced research and gain business support for investment.Lead the timely resolution of complex, wood chemistry-related manufacturing or quality problems.Contribute to the ongoing development of R&D capabilities by mentoring R&D professionals and recommending investments in necessary lab equipment.Protect intellectual property by documenting trade secrets and records of invention for patent filings. Participate in development of patent strategies for development programs.Ensures compliance with environmental health and safety standards including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemical agents and other materials.Education: PhD in Chemistry or Material Science with a focus on wood chemistry and wood composite technology.
Experience: 10+ years of R&D experience in wood composite technology with proven track record of as the technical lead for successful product and technology developments.
Certifications/Designations: Active member of a Chemical Industry Association and/or Technical Advisory
