Join our Cloud Infrastructure team as a Principal Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineer and lead the design, development, deployment, and support of an automation framework that enables IaaS capabilities across public and private clouds. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal and cross-functional teams to translate infrastructure architectures into automated, scalable solutions. You’ll standardize deployment and data models to support rapid scaling with multi-tenancy and self-service functionality across our cloud services. You have the vision to drive innovation and the leadership skills to inspire and lead a team to achieve incredible outcomes.   Key Responsibilities: Cloud Solution Engineering: Design and deploy robust cloud infrastructure and container solutions using OpenStack, GCP, AWS, Kubernetes, Rancher and/or OpenShift, focusing on reliability, scalability, and performance. Automation Framework Development: Lead the creation of an automation framework to streamline IaaS provisioning and configuration across multi-cloud environments, enabling efficient scaling and operational consistency. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal and external teams to convert infrastructure architectures into automated, scalable solutions and standardize deployment models for quick scalability and self-service capabilities. Reliability and SRE Integration: Implement observability, monitoring, and SRE principles (e.g., error budgets, proactive incident management) to enhance system reliability and performance. Cost Optimization: Apply FinOps practices to monitor and optimize cloud resource usage, ensuring cost-effective operation across all environments. Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering best practices in cloud engineering, SRE, and automation. Security and Compliance: Drive the implementation of security best practices within cloud infrastructure by developing secure design patterns and ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Continuously assess and enhance security frameworks to uphold data integrity, maintain compliance, and mitigate risks across all environments. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Design and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity strategies reinforcing system resilience and high availability. Proactively identify potential vulnerabilities and lead initiatives to ensure systems are prepared for rapid recovery, minimizing impact from disruptions. Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Lead strategy toward continuous monitoring and performance tuning of cloud systems to enhance efficiency and reliability. Utilize data-driven insights to identify optimization opportunities, address performance bottlenecks, and ensure cloud resources meet evolving business demands. Qualifications:

Education: bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience and relevant industry certifications will also be considered.

Experience:
o    10+ years in IT, with extensive experience in cloud engineering, automation, and containerization.
o    Expertise in multi-cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, OpenStack) and container environments (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, GCP Anthos).
o    Expertise in software development, with proven success in cloud-native applications and automation tooling.

Technical Skills:
o    Proficient in Linux (e.g., Ubuntu), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Go).
o    Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, networking, and SRE principles.
o    Proficiency with CI/CD practices, version control systems, and software development lifecycle methodologies.

Certifications: Relevant cloud and Kubernetes certifications preferred.

Skills and Attributes: Analytical and Problem-Solving: Ability to translate complex requirements into robust cloud and automation solutions. Visionary Leadership: Capable of defining a vision, inspiring, and leading a team toward transformative cloud solutions. Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for working across technical and non-technical teams. Mentorship and Innovation: Proven experience in leading high-performing teams and fostering innovation in cloud engineering and automation. Preferred Attributes: Experience in FinOps and cost-optimization strategies. Background in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare).

 

Work Location: This role is fully remote for candidates who reside outside the 50 mile radius of our San Ramon office.  For candidates who reside within 50 miles of our San Ramon location, this role is Hybrid and would require 3 days a week (M, W, TH) in our San Ramon office.

The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the job across the United States. Additionally, the total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.

All compensation and benefits are subject to the requirements and restrictions set forth in the applicable plan documents and any written agreements between the parties.

The US base salary range for this role is below. $171,700—$353,500 USD
