Elastic is looking for a Sr. Competitive Intelligence Manager to join our Product Marketing organization, supporting our Observability solution. In this role, you will play a critical part in driving our go-to-market success by analyzing the competitive landscape and delivering actionable insights to our sales, marketing, and product teams. You will be at the center of key efforts to position Elastic’s Observability solutions against competitors, helping field and partner teams succeed in a rapidly evolving market.
The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of technical and business acumen, particularly in Observability and related fields, such as security or app dev platforms. You thrive in ambiguity, think critically, and can dive deep to deliver valuable insights. You excel at presenting across levels, from technical experts to senior executives, and are skilled at turning data into impactful messaging for different audiences.
What You'll Be Doing: Support the Sr. Director in building and implementing an effective competitive intelligence program, focusing on Elastic’s Observability. Track, analyze, and communicate competitive developments, providing timely and impactful responses to market changes and competitor actions. Build compelling enablement materials, such as battle-cards, competitor bulletins, and positioning slides, to highlight Elastic's differentiation in the Observability space. Collaborate on the Win/Loss program efforts, analyzing data to advise sales strategies and product decisions. Develop a deep understanding of the Observability market, including competitive dynamics and SWOT evaluations. Provide actionable insights to the sales and solutions engineering teams to improve their competitive positioning. Collaborate closely with marketing, product management, and sales to craft competitive positioning strategies and influence product roadmap development. Participate in industry events to monitor trends and keep the organization informed of competitive shifts and market opportunities. What You'll Bring: Strong analytical skills to assess competitive strategies and propose effective responses. Ability to synthesize complex technical information and distill key insights for different stakeholders. Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and visual—to effectively share competitive insights and positioning strategies. Proven success in roles such as sales engineering, technical marketing, or competitive analysis, preferably within the Observability or adjacent industries. Ability to build relationships and work optimally with teams across the company, including sales, marketing, engineering, and leadership. Experience translating technical features into compelling business value for diverse audiences. A technical degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience is preferred but not required.

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component.
The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.
