Principal Consultant, Environmental Scientist, Wildlife Biologist (Principal Level)

ERM is seeking an outstanding professional to join our Saskatoon, SK office as a Principal Consultant, Environmental Scientist, Wildlife Biologist to support our Capital Project Delivery Team with a focus on mining and energy projects.

As the Canadian Wildlife Team Manager, you will lead wildlife service delivery in Canada, with capacity to complete work in various jurisdictions across the country, primarily in western and northern Canada. The role requires an ambition to lead, mentor, and build a team of wildlife biologists and drive quality and safety within the team. The successful applicant will have extensive regulatory experience with industrial projects while applying knowledge and skills to help our clients solve complex challenges in these sectors. This role includes opportunities to directly interact with clients and regulators and participate in business development. The successful candidate will be a valued leader in large multidisciplinary team in Canada and will become a member of an extensive team of global environmental and social experts.

We are looking for a motivated, experienced person who enjoys problem solving and working within a multi-stakeholder environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and lead wildlife field programs primarily in western and northern Canada, including for birds, amphibians and large mammals.Support preparation of wildlife assessments for EAs/EISs and associated management plans in compliance with applicable federal, provincial/territorial requirements.Review project deliverables to ensure quality and scope of work standards are met.Prepare proposals, including development of scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing and prospective clients.Work on multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables and timely delivery of reports.Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, landowners, Indigenous communities, and clients during field activities, as required.Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees and teams worldwide.

REQUIREMENTS:

B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Biological Sciences, or related field.8+ years of environmental consulting experience; prior experience in government, and/or mining or oil and gas sectors are considered assets.Experience with federal, provincial and territorial regulations and guidelines pertaining to survey methodologies and environmental assessments, particularly in Alberta, British Columbia, and Northern Canada.Advanced technical writing abilities.Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor other wildlife team members.Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
